My '92 Caddy was flashing low refrigerant for a bout a week. During that time the fan for the AC vents became all but useless. Today I recharged the system but the ac vents still blew nothing. I stopped by my mechanics and he said to disconnect the battery cable for at least two minutes. I did that with no luck. I checked all the fuses and everything was fine with those.
I brought the car back to see if he had a few minutes to check it out. He brought out one of his precision tools (a hammer) and hit the blower motor and cold AC started to flow. 20 feet down the road it stopped. He said these were a bitch to replace.
Can anyone give me a questimate on what the labor might be on this? Can I do it myself or is it something only the knowledgeable should do? I live in Florida and it is hot as hell right now so I'd appreciate working AC.
Never mind. I see that the 4.9 cars cost less to replace the motor (50 vs. 200 for the N*) and it isn't all that bad of a job from what I've read searching through here.
