| Re: Thinking of buying 2001-2002 Eldorado I bought my 01 ETC in April of 05, with about 53K on the clock - traded my 99 Deville in on it. We're now at 95K.
I had exactly ZERO, repeat ZERO problems with it in three years. A few months ago, the 36Month/36K GMPP plan I bought with it was about to expire, so I went to General Sales in West Chester and said "Go over it with a fine tooth comb. Replace anything that looks suspect, if the warranty covers it, fine, if not let me know and I'll decide."
They replaced the INFO RESET button switch, and a fuel tank sending switch. They put in a new serpentine belt. They replaced a front sway bar. That's it. I think I paid about $300 all told between the warranty work and the things I wanted done voluntarily. Not bad, a hundred bucks a year for running costs...
I had them change the plugs. The AC checked out fine, everything in the car works as it did the day it came off the line. I get 23MPG. I've replaced all four sets of pads, and had the front rotors turned. Other than that and oil and gas, it has cost me virtually nothing in over three years.
It gets driven every day. I don't beat the piss out of it, but I don't baby it around either. My 02 Deville has 189K on it, with no problems other than two window regulators and an ignition switch.
In the past 7 years, I've put very nearly 400,000 miles on three different Caddys. I couldn't be more pleased, overall.
