Northstars are not included in this settlement. Only 3.1, 3.4, 3.6, 3.8 and 4.3L engines. If I had any receipts I could get reimbursed for 4 heater cores and a couple of water pumps in my 96 GMC Jimmy.

I knew this lawsuit had been brewing for over a year now, but was warned by a letter from the attorneys that the information could not be redistributed. It was made public last week on TV. Yep - Northstars were not on the list, but most other GM engines were (from 95 on). Dexcool has been shown to congeal in some cooling systems - mostly due to insufficient maintenance. I know this is heresy here, but my cooling system was converted 2 years ago to the traditional coolant after a good flush. No problems at all, but I do have to change it or have it changed every 2 years now. I also add a water pump lubricant - so far, no leaks from the seals.
