Re: Selling my STS and I find I'm elitist. . . or something

Still at #3 above the Jags, Lexus', and Infinitis'.
As both the litmus test and Pontiac GP survey have confirmed.

I can understand the European import vehicles being more popular than the Asian imports. Just for the fact of the interior size.
Without a doubt there is way more interior room in any North American vehicle than any Asian import. As well as with European imports.

Im guessing that the litmus test.............if it truly is the higher 7 series (which is a rip off for the dollar), as well as mostly S Class MBs................is not really a true gauge as to what elite is.
Cause if that was the case....then why are they attending such a function, that so many that are so below there status, would make them stand out in such a way ?

That is not elitest. That is plain snobbery, and showing off.
The true elitist are the Cadillac owners that are responsible enough to take a cab or limo. The ones that respect there vehicle enough not to give it to some valet jockey to abuse.

I dont really know........Im just guessing here.....

As far as Im concerned. I dont drive a Cadillac cause Im attempting to be into some certain crowd. I dont drive a Cadillac for the prospect of being perceived as though Im above others.
I drive a Cadillac because thats the car I like. I dont want to drive a Jag, BMW, Lexus, etc.

I want to drive a Cadillac cause thats what I like.

Not because I want to be perceived as elite.
I dont look at anyone as being elite. Sure some can afford more than others. But it doesnt make them any better or more elite than anyone else.
Unless your one of those that watches all those Entertainment channels and follows the lives of celebrities more than you know what your own teen is doing from day to day.

I got out of that peer pressure holier than though shyte during adolescence.

Re: Selling my STS and I find I'm elitist. . . or something

Is this one of those threads that won't die?

As the original poster, I think my message has been contorted a bit. First of all, being an elitist and having an elitist attitude about your car are two different things. If you bought your caddy because you love the car and are an enthusiast, then that's great. When you go to sell the car and find that you don't think the average Joe (whom I described as a blue-collar person, much to my chagrin) would understand the subtleties and technical nuances of the car, nor appreciate the history and evolution of its manufacturer, then you might be considered to have an elitist attitude, at least in regards to your car.

I think a true Cadillac enthusiast, though, would think that EVERYONE would appreciate having a Cadillac . . . regardless of the color of your collar, size of their bank account, or how many miles of dirt road they have to drive on to get to work.

Looks like it aint dyin any time soon.
Now its gone from elitist to Cadillac enthusiast.
As well as from elitist to Average Joe.
No matter how much you try, Your just digging yourself deeper
Its obvious that you feel only those of your particular class, (which ever that may be), or above, should be entitled to drive a Cadillac.
Or should I say that only those equal to your class and or standards should, could, be worthy enough to drive a Cadillac "that you have previously owned".

I personally feel my self to be an "average Joe". Just a regular guy who likes some nice things sometimes.

I would sure hate to see what would happen if you were ever to decide to sell a home. My guess is that you would never ever move. I would be surprised if you could find a real estate agent that would be willing to deal with that kind of an attitude.

If you really and truly care that sooo sooo much about it then you should keep it your self. But obviously your selling it because you want the cash.
So if you get the cash that your asking for.....then why should you care what happens to it after.
If you get the amount your asking and your happy........then why give a crap if the buyer wants to put it into a crusher. ??????????

Its nothing more than a freakin car. Sure its a nice car. Sure you have taken care of it.....but other then that......Holly Freakin Cow !!!!!!!!! Its still just metal and such.....Get a grip !

But thats just an opinion from another Average Joe

That made little to no sense.

Re: Selling my STS and I find I'm elitist. . . or something

i don't wanna throw any more fuel on this fire, but i will not stand to be be-littled, and to each his own, biit it sounds to me like you just don't wanna get rid of your caddy man. And i can respect that. I'm a blue collar myself working for a Soda Botling company (red and white labels, use your head) I make well over 85,000. Of course i would like to drive a brand new STS-v, but my wife and 2 kids also need a nice roomy Expedition to get around in, so it's not just me. don't judge people by what they drive, you never know what else they have. Like my father for instance, his daily beater is a 1992 Chevy 1500 Pick up 2wd, but in his garage he has a MB S600 AMG with a v12 with 40,000 miles on the clock. So you never know. Think before you speak. Yes i drive a $4,500 eldo ETC, but my wife drives a $48,000 Expedition. That's a sacrifice i made. it doesn't mean i can't afford a new car.

Re: Selling my STS and I find I'm elitist. . . or something

Looks like I'm wasting my time on this thread. Many of the responses have indicated that the readers were unable to comprehend what they read. I guess if someone is intent on being offended, then there is no stopping them. In my original post I was castigating myself for an elitist attitude about my car, but obviously no one understood that.

If I keep a Cadillac, I might use this site for technical information, but I'm sure I won't be using it to share anything else.

Why are the "blue-collar" workers so defensive about their jobs? Talk about a chip on your shoulder . . .

Not defensive about there jobs.
But possibly offended when put down as not worthy of another.
And whether or not you believe you castigated your self makes no difference.....

It was and Is surely understood. Is clear that some do feel that they are above others.

You are the one that has obtrusively put your neighbors, friends, relatives, and all that you meet every day into certain classes.
Blue Collars are not defensive about there jobs. Blue collars dont have chips on there shoulders.

You have made it clear that you have also been offended. That you feel as though you are being referred to as something that you are not. As though you have been put into a particular class of sorts. It sounds as though you your self have quite the large chips amongst your shoulders.

Blue Collars are just like every other, "respectable"....
...white collar, or red necked, hard working immigrant, self sufficient, family oriented, neighborly, understanding, decent individual.

Every one is fine until the ones with the "actual" attitude and the chips decide to put others into a class.
Its the ones that have chips that are the ones that dont understand.

When one labels others as below owning what they can own......When one decides to put others into classes such as Blue or White. That Is The Chip.

And that is where the misunderstanding lies.

Im sorry If you "personally" and "individually" may have been insulted here because of the CLASS that you believe you belong too.
But not one of us is above any other As you have continued to portray.

You just keep on diggin yourself deeper

Get off the references of classes. Get Off the references of collars. Get some ground under your feet. Come back to earth and realize that your just a regular human being wanting to live a decent life like every one else here.

Take a reality check my friend. No one is "ELITE" And those that believe they are are just AS*H*L*S

What you have said about the caring of your vehicle is understood.
But what you have said whilst the classing of others is far from understandable.
It was you that decided to put others into a particular class. So the Chips lie nowhere but upon your shoulders.
I really believed that it was years ago that anyone classed workers as blues and or whites. I thought that every one in my neighborHOOD was all the same.
Go figure that colors of collars are again becoming more important than colors of skin.

If you do really feel that the only thing that can benefit you from this forum is nothing more than tech info.....Then God Speed To You.
