Remove this ad
First I would like to thank every on this forum for all the help that I have recieved from reading past posts. It has saved me lots of $$$$. I was Driving to work this morning and after 35min. or so car just died, tryed to resart and it just turns over and wont fire. I pulled the codes and they are
PC1599 History
AC1347 Current
RF2560 Current

Another odd thing is the the key fob does nothing, will not lock, unlock doors open trunk or gas door. all this worked this morning?

Any help would be Appreciated

Re: 1996 sts stalled and wont restart

P1599 - Engine Stall or Near Stall Detected
B1347 - Very Low A/C Refrigerant Warning
B2560 - RKE Message Validation Error <== Explains your keyless entry problem. Might want to try reporgraming the key fobs to the car. There's a procedure for it that's been mentioned here a lot of times. I don't remember it offhand though.

This has the Odor of a bad or going bad CKP (CranKshaft Position) Sensor.... That is only a guess though without proper diagnosis.

Re: 1996 sts stalled and wont restart

Thanks I am going to see if it will kick over with a little starting fluid to narrow things down.

Re: 1996 sts stalled and wont restart

I would strongly discourage kicking an aluminum Northstar with starting fluid. If it won't roll and go on its own, starting fluid isn't the answer and you risk real engine damage.

If the theft system has received an erroneous message, possibly from a key fob error, that also may create a no-start condition.

Re: 1996 sts stalled and wont restart

Check your fuel pressure. Maybe the fuel pump died.

Re: 1996 sts stalled and wont restart

Just want to see if it is fuel or electrical problem? If the theft system was having issues doesn't it usally say so on the display?

Can you pull a spark plug to see if it is getting spark?

Re: 1996 sts stalled and wont restart

The engine needs fuel, air and ignition. Air is pretty much a given. Now you have to eliminate one or the other. If you have fuel pressure, you have eliminated fuel as the problem. Now you can concentrate on ignition.

You can do that. If the spark plug is coated in fuel residue then it's probably a spark problem. Might want to try turning the engine over a few more times to make any fuel residue more obvious though.

Edit: It wont spark if you take it out and turn the engine over because the current needs to go into the block for the cicuit to be closed.

Sure, if you know how. Not very hard, but better do it right.
20,000 volts will definitely get your attention.

Re: 1996 sts stalled and wont restart

I have done this before on older rigs (non computer). What should the fuel pressure be at?
