Where to place floor jack & jack stands on 2000 ETC

Remove this ad
Hi everyone, this is my first post. I've been on here researching and reading since I got my 2000 ETC a little over a month ago. What a super car, I am officially spoiled. I picked up some oil & filter today but when I started looking under the car for a jacking point it was not obvious where to place it to jack the car up. My ramps are too tall, plus I've heard that you shouldn't try to drive the driven wheels on a ramp, so I thought I would get some input first on where to jack & support before guessing and crawling underneath! Thanks in advance for your help.

I put the jack on the front cross member of the engine cradle and the stands on the sides or on the lower control arms.

same here, but my floor jack has 'teeth' which have kinda maimed the cross member a bit, you'll want a flat jack pad if you go this route...

Thanks for the replies. I considered the front crossmember but wanted to ask first.

Re: Where to place floor jack & jack stands on 2000 ETC

Be careful of a flat jack pad on the front of the engine cradle/crossmember. If the car and/or jack doesn't roll as the jack arm comes up the pad will slip off the smooth surface of the cradle and punch through the splash shield, and there are 2 brake lines which run across just behind the radiator lower area.

Better to use either a floor jack with a curved or cross cut pad, or do as some have done and make a couple of 2x6 wood "starter ramps" for your steel ones.
