This is the first car that I have owned since 1992 that has had over 55,000 miles on it. Except for the damned dreaded 60 - 75 mph shimmy, and a P0741 code, it is running like new. I bought the car with 50k on it, so only half of the mileage is mine. Only "repairs" that needed to be done were the water pump gasket (bought gasket, cover, thermostat, thermo gasket, pellets, Dexcool) cost was about $75. MAP sensor which was about $45. Crank sensors were about $77. Trunk seal which was about $50. Steering wheel position sensor and intermediate shaft which was about $120. Parking brake cables about $45. Rear brake line was about $35. All 4 door checks were about $110. That is about $560. Not bad for three plus years. Now that is not indicative of what I spent on the car. Chasing the shimmy I almost went bankrupt, and still didn't fix it. 4 sets of wheels, 5 sets of tires, all 4 hubs, new struts, new shocks, front motor mount, tie rod ends. I spent thousands on this. Thank God that I did all of the work myself, as labor charges would have been at least twice the parts costs. Then there is the almost $1,500 I spent on the sound system. I do not include upgrades in figuring out car costs as they were never necessary.
Overall I love this car, and will be keeping it for a long time. As long as it stays together, I will be driving it. After having all of the features that this car has, I would never be happy with a lesser car. It will be neice in Nov '09 when my last payment is sent. It is going to be sweet to not have a car payment. That hasn't happened since early 1991. Thanks for reading my post.

This summer I bought an '04 SLS. I like the car so much I am picking up a second "04 for the wife. Both cars have less than 30k on them, so I am looking forward to many years of driving from both of these fine cars. No wheel shimmy on either of these cars and I had both up to 85 mph (test drive on the new one). I have already replaced the passenger seat heater and the center brake light. I just hope the repairs stay to a minimum. |

Dadillac, congrats on your 100,000 miles!
We're at 133,000 on mine, I cannot wait until 200,000 miles! |

By this time I was always looking to get something newer. But I love this car. As I stated before, as long as it wants to stay in great condition, I will drive this thing until it isn't worth anything anymore. I would love to drive it for another 10 years and 200k more miles. Hopefully I can reach that goal.
