Car turns over..

So my car turns over every time it sits for longer than 2 hours. Its a 350 5.7 V8, and the longer it sits, the longer it is to get it started. So, I tried this little test in the morning before school. Pump the gas to open up the throttle to drain the fuel out (car is off) pump it a couple of times, then, in an interval of 5 secs per turn (a total of 30 secs all together) 6 turns; turn the key to ON position but not start, so turn it to on, let everything light up, wait 3 secs, and turn it to OFF position...and do it 4 - 5 more times. And that makes the injectors spit some fuel out. Its then, easier to start. Thing is, would the problem be in my Fuel Pressure Regulator? Hence it sits overnight, and lets the fuel get into my engine, causing it to flood...which leads to it being turned over for a while to try and burn off the excess fuel. Does this make any sense to any of you, or do any of you agree with me at this point?

Because its not; Fuel pump, any of the filters, injectors, alternator (although should get a new one)

Also, where is the Fuel Pressure Regulator located?

Re: Car turns over..

Fuel injected? The FPR is on the fuel rail. With the engine at idle, pull the vacuum line. If you see any fuel at the nipple, the FPR is bad. If that is not the problem and the engine is actually flooded, then one or more injectors are leaking fuel into the cylinders.

Pumping the gas on a fuel injected engine does nothing.

The injectors do not pulse till the engine is cranked.

Have you checked the fuel pressure?

And fuel injected in 1979? TBI didn't show up on most GM until the mid-80s and PFI later. Is it the original motor?

Re: Car turns over..

All 76-79 Sevilles were fuel injected. They used an Oldsmobile 350 motor with a Bendix analog fuel injection system(Port Injection). In alot of Sevilles you find that the fuel injection system was removed in favor of an Quadrajet and an Olds 4bbl intake by someone not knowing how to work on these systems.

Fuel pump OK, FPR OK. One injector is suspected to be leaking.
