I guess I let it get bad. My car makes an airplane noise when I hit about 40 MPH +. I was doing 90 and still heard it. It didn't used to do it at 90. When it makes this noise, I can also feel a little vibration on the floor (passenger noticed it first).
Other problems: when I hit the throttle hard (WOT) it doesn't down shift properly, thus taking a second to kick in. I also noticed that in the cold weather, I was getting a little whine when I accelerated normally or gently.
MAF, vacuum, any ideas? I don't know how to fix this stuff but I'd like to know what I'm talking about when I take it in this week. Thanks. |

hows the fluid is it burnt?
if the wot issue was computer related you almost always get a code
if its mechanical like internal valve body in the tranny, the clutches etc then usually you dont...
i see a tranny in your future... |

I have no codes. Just the SES light due to exhaust manifold or something. Another thing to have looked at. If it's going to cost much, I'm trashing it and going with something else. We'll see what happens. |

with ABS and T/C lamp you lose 1st gear, you cant even manually put it in 1st to get 1st gear. |

X2 Might not throw a code if it's not bad enough yet. Check CV Axles |

To check the level... park on a level surface, go through each gear setting on the shifter for a few seconds, then back to park... leave the car on and check level with engine running. Check for the following BAD conditions:
1- foaming
2- dark brown or black
3- burnt smelling
You may get away with replacing the fluid (idle the car and let the pump empty it, by disconnecting the top tranny cooler line, while you put new fluid in--stop when it comes out bright red). Although it could be debris on the screen causing the whine. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
