2002 Seville intermitant stalls & won't start

My 2002 Seville SLS has had a history of stalling when stopped, driving as well as not starting, although the battery is ok. Over the past few years Legends Cadillac in Scottsdale, AZ has replaced crank sensors, ignition switch and the problem goes away for a period of time. Each time they check for codes there are none. I really like the car and only have 70K miles on it and it still under GMPP warranty. I'm at my wits end and don't know what else to do. Your help is most appreciated.

Depends what run of CKP sensors they used.

There was a bad batch of them for a long time that did nothing but provide a temporary band-aid to the issue. I would go back to your dealer and ensure you have the most updated ones. I believe the old run say made in Mexico and the new ones are made in Japan (supplier change).

70K miles is a good mileage w/o changing the sensors in a '00-03 period

Playdrv is correct. The Mexican CKP's are Beige (upper) and Black (lower). The Japanese CKP's are Grey (upper) and Black (lower).

Thanks for the input. My service advisor assures me that he's confirmed that I have the proper one from the good (Japan) vendor. As I said in my initial post this problem has intermittantly happened for several years. It'll go away for up to about a year and then return. It's probably not just 1 issue, but no codes come up when it does.

"the proper one" Uh no... there are TWO of them! My bet, sometime early in the car's history someone replaced ONE of the sensors... (probably the top one) and now the second one has failed.

Just a guess. But if he acutely said "you have the proper one" he is blowing smoke...

And ya the Japanese sensors are a different color and significantly different construction... steel inserts, they look much better.

Intermitent stalls in a 2000-2003 with no code is Crank Sensors...
