Hey everybody! I desperatly want to swap my stock 96 ETC steering wheel for the 2002 ETC wood trimed steering wheel. I've been searching on ebay for MONTHS now and I haven't found one yet! Does anyone know of any kit that'll make my wheel look look like this:

Re: Eldorado Wood Steering Wheel Question...
He's probably trying to get one for less than full price.

Re: Eldorado Wood Steering Wheel Question...
How much would one be for full price? It's always nice to save but I'll spring for full price if it's not rediculous. Wood wheels for Sevilles and Devilles without airbag sell for CHEAP on ebay. We're talking under 100 bucks! Obviously Caddy will want WAY more than 100 bucks... But either way, if its my only way, then so be it...

Try checking junkyards too. Problem there is, the bag would have probably deployed.

Re: Eldorado Wood Steering Wheel Question...
The airbag would really be the least of my problems. I was hoping to retain my factory airbag. I saw somewhere online that they go for over 400 bucks at most caddy dealerships! I'm going to look into this today...

Re: Eldorado Wood Steering Wheel Question...
If my information is correct, this wheel is one of the few available factory options in the ETC (with power sunroof, chrome wheels and 12-disc CD changer being the other major three - not counting the special paint options). It was available on Eldorados as far back as 1999, maybe even earlier. When you do get your solution, I would like to see it posted - someone else may want to do the same mod.

Re: Eldorado Wood Steering Wheel Question...
Keep looking on eBay or in junkyards. The wheel alone from Caddy is $645.00.

Re: Eldorado Wood Steering Wheel Question...
The 2000 1/2 and up Eldorado wood steering wheel, will fit/replace
similarly styled Cadillac steering wheels back to 1996 and use the
existing airbag. *The 1995 and 1994 Cadillacs have a different airbag
due to the shape and absence of those climate/radio controls, and
also you are taking chances by using a different airbag from one that the vehicle was designed for. *Furthermore, in 1994 and 1995, you push the whole airbag assembly to sound the horn - on 1996-up you depress the airbag, so they are obviously very different assemblies.
Give up trying to find one on eBay - I've had a search running steadily for 2 years now and while I have found (and picked up) a few Cadillac wood steering wheels, they were later Devilles (2000-up which is a different style) and Escalade. *The Eldorado wood steering wheel has shown up ONLY once on eBay - about 6 months ago. A swarm of snipers showed up in the final seconds; it sold for $430 - about what you could buy it for on gmpartsdirect.com if I'm not mistaken.
If you really want the wood - I suggest going with the best
'overlay' product from Exotic Wood Dash or some similar company. Maybe you could find one in a junkyard somewhere.
cheers,
~Doc

Re: Eldorado Wood Steering Wheel Question...
I posted a pic of a Deville wood trimmed steering wheel that I want to get from American Stitches.
The photos on their web site look very impressive. Hopefully when they get back to me with the estimate it will be in my price range.

Re: Eldorado Wood Steering Wheel Question...
that is freaking beautiful.....i'd almost be willing to buy one for like 400 dollars; i cant stand fake wood-wrapped steering wheel covers, ESPECIALLY on caddies.

Re: Eldorado Wood Steering Wheel Question...
WOW! ChiMick - that looks amazing! AND it appears that it fits 1994/95 models which have had no wood wheel choices. Please do post on price - gf has a Black/Black 94 Seville that is in need of a wheel.
cheers,

Re: Eldorado Wood Steering Wheel Question...
Doc:
I haven't heard anything from American Stitches yet... but please do have a look at their web site.
It appears as if the options for recovering steering wheels is limited only by your imagination (various leather and wood options, carbon fibre, etc!)
Granite anyone????

They have a pic under "exotic skins" of a wheel done in simulated snakeskin and they proudly announce that crocodile is now available....
