We all obviously WOT (use Wide Open Throttle) to remove carbon build-up and to have fun, but I have a question for you: How long do you WOT it, and what's your strategy?
Are your runs short, like 5500 RPM then back down immediately, or do you take it up to 130mph? lol
Just curious.
I always do rolling races vs myself. Hard revs and hold them for a sec.
Sometimes I use WOT on about a 300 foot straight line on the highway... |

When I do it, I start in 2nd gear and let it wind out to 6000 RPM and shift at full throttle. I generaly back off at 70 MPH and let it slow to 50 or 60, then shift into OD. |

I don't own a Northstar Cad, but when I wot now, I generally do it on a onramp or when I'm first getting onto a highway...usually I'll go WOT at about 20-25 and hold it until I reach the speed limit, usually 55-65 mph.

I'd like to, I just don't understand it.
I know I can start in second and let it shift for me, but I don't get the overdrive part... |

After you drift down to the speed limit (assuming you surpass it), then shift back into OD and continue on your way. |

1.) Start in 2
2.) Go fast, then...
3.) Shift to "D" pass 3
I will decelerate when shifting, right?
Okay I'll try it |

I put the gear selector in 1, and let it shift to the 6200 redline in first gear. After it shifts, I put it back into D and slow down normally. |

I go out early on a Saturday morning on a nice stretch of highway. I get in the passing lane, slowing to 55 MPH (when no one's behind or in front obviously) and drop it into 2nd gear. Then I MASH it and hold it until about 6000 RPMs when I feel it shift and then completely let off the throttle and let the car slow back down again to about 3000 RPMs or wherever I was at when I started out in 2nd and put it back into D.
I was following the instructions displayed on this web site in the technical archives.

Except when slowing down I wait for it to downshift back into 2nd then the car starts slowing down fast and then throw it back into D.
