I've been trying to find a good deal on a 1998-2000 Seville STS, and I finally found one in mid-December, 2006. I bought a 1998 Cadillac Seville STS. I believe it's just the base STS model, it does have Bose, but no multi-disc player, heated seats, or anything else.
The kicker is, I bought the car from an older lady. She offered to her son as a graduation present (law school), and he didn't want the car. We originally agreed to pay $6700 for the car, but she ended up having to deliver the car to my home (around 100mi away from her), and I paid her an additional $300 for that. The car is the Gold Fire-mist color, with the neutral leather interioer. The car had an ORIGINAL 31,769 miles once I signed the bill of sale and gave her the money. That a steal at that price, and an awesome find for that mileage. I hate to brag, but come on.
The car does have a couple nicks and such, and a cracked windshield, but other than that everything is mint. Right now the car is on 20" panther wheels with falken tires, and everything else is stock. I wanted to add an intake and an aftermarket performance module if they become available, in addition to eibach springs and an HID kit. I know you guys want pics, but they weather is crappy outside. I'll be sure to grab some soon though. |

Well, hello there..........You'll now be able to get glassy-eyed reading all the technical and archive threads at the very top of the page. All the answers are there....If you replace the windshield, I had good luck with Safelite...don't know if they're out there. They'll do the job in your driveway. Expensive, though..over $300 for the electric(rain sense wiper option)/antenna/tinted version in PPG. (Dump truck + rock = $$$) P.S. Send some of your LONG straight roads to the East Coast..... |

I am a bit confused. The '98 STS had the heated seats standard...they were an option on the SLS. I suppose the car could have been a custom order. Does the wood trim on the doors run the entire length of the door, or just at the forward part? Does the front end have fog lamps? Congrats on a great find! |

Ah yes the senior owned car. My caddy was a one owner senior car, this is what i did. The FIRST thing you should do is flush the coolant and buy some sealant tabs. A major issue on the northstar is the headgaskets. The biggest contributer to them failing is poor maintainence of the cooling system. Change the oil and air filters, if you haven't already. Then get some techron fuel injector cleaner, its the only one that actually does anything. Also get the fuel filter changed, more than likely its the original one in there. Check the tranny fluid, power steering fluid, and brake fluid. Even though its got low mileage, the fluid is probably dirty, and its probably original, which means its old as hell. Check the serpentine belt, prob original (dried and cracked.) All these things are really easy, cheap, and great preventative maintainence. With those 20's on there, you are going to be going through brakes fairly quickly. The best way to keep your caddy going is preventative maintainence, because when it does break, its expensive to fix. Another thing with senior cars, carbon buildup. The fuel injector cleaner will helpo a little. THeres a write up in tech tips section (with pictures) that will show you how to clean the throttle body (probably covered in carbon crap), very easy, and i highly recommend it. Oh and the most fun maintainence? Give that baby wide open throttle every once and a while, this will help get rid of that carbon build up. |

One other thing to look at...is the 8th digit in your VIN number a "9" or a "Y"? With no heated seats, I suspect you have a re-badged SLS. |

As he said, make sure to take care of this immediately. Low mileage northstars that dont have proper maintenance are much worse than high mileage ones that have all their coolant and oil change history. The N* Motor needs alot of WOT to keep it nice and tidy.
Good luck.

Ive owned SLS's WITH heated seats, and at least one STS withOUT them. Remember, the STS in the earliest models didnt even have the wood and leather steering wheel or shift knob. |

Yes, but as of the '98 model year the heated seats were standard on the STS and optional on the SLS. The wood package was optional on the STS and SLS in the '98 model year, too. |

On the consumerguide, it dosen't say anything about heated seats being standard on the STS, but I would check the VIN, just to be sure. |

I specifically remember getting lambasted by my girlfriend for not having heated seats. I spoiled her when I had my BMW. I looked at a few at the time that didnt have it either. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
