Need a new suspension but it's too expensive. Can I switch to regular shocks?
I have a 1995 Seville SLS that rides incredibly bumpy. My mechanic pointed out that the struts (or shock absorbers?) in the rear wheels are leaking. He told me I needed a whole new suspension.
Problem is I hear these things cost a fortune, like $1200 per wheel - or something like that.
Any suggestions? I was told that maybe I could switch to gas shocks? Has anyone heard of someone doing that?
The car has $117,000 miles on it and drives well otherwise. But instead of spending $4000+ on a new suspension, I'd rather spend $6000 on a used cadillac in a much-better all-around condition with lower miles.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

you can buy passive struts. I heard they perform well. Also, there are Eldo/Seville Struts up on Ebay right now for cheap, the OEM kind. Go to Ebay and search up "Cadillac Struts" and you will find. Send the link back to us and we will tell you if its a match for your vehicle. Otherwise, look into passive struts. Many companies offer them for under 80 bucks a pop.

Yes I can attest they do just as good in my opinion my last two cadillacs got replaced with them and I was happy.
