Faulty washer fluid sensor?

Remove this ad
Okay, I have a 2001 STS that I just acquired and I've found that the "check washer fluid" indication comes on even though the tank is full.

Does this indicate a faulty sensor - is this a common problem, is it easy to fix, etc.

thanks in advance

Re: Faulty washer fluid sensor?

Sensor, wiring or plug. The sensor is in the tank and I believe that you will have to pull the tank to get at it as I think it is at the bottom. Not sure if it is serviceable t hough. You may have to R & R the tank. Not a very common problem to my knowledge.

Re: Faulty washer fluid sensor?

I replaced this a few months ago. I purchased a new sensor from RockAuto for around $35. I did not have to take the tank completely out but it was a very tight fit and took me some time. You have to remove a couple bolts and then you can move the tank around. The complete job took me 25 minutes.

Re: Faulty washer fluid sensor?

I had a look at the RockAuto site and found "washer fluid sensor" but there ar just 2 part numbers and they both look like connectors of some sort. Any chance you can let me know which part number(s) you used?

thanks

Re: Faulty washer fluid sensor?

You probably already did this, but don't forget to check electr connection for corrosion.

Re: Faulty washer fluid sensor?

Anyone have pics or easy instructions on replacing the washer fluid pump? Mine is leaking all over the engine and belt whenever I use it. On my tank in my 99 STS the sensor is accessed from the top, but the tank has to be removed because you can't take it out for the frame getting in the way.
