Help!

Remove this ad
Hey i own a 1996 sts i love the car but after i drove 20 000km on from 50 000km it is losing alot of power and im getting plastic in my oil. Everyone says the plastic is from the chain tensoner or guild rails. The caddy is making a lot of tinging noises on start up and continues to do it for a while (It is starting to get warmer). it sounds to be the valves but i dont know at all. Does anyone know if there caddy or any caddy has had the chain jump on them. I will get rid of it if its toast as quick as i can.

Re: Help!

Plastic in the oil is very unusual. The chain tensioner guides should out last the engine unless they are not getting oil for some reason.

Re: Help!

I agree with Ranger, Ive never heard of that problem on a Northstar period. It sounds to me like chain guides/guide have come apart somehow. That is really strange.

Re: Help!

How big are the plastic parts you are getting? Any chance you could clean it up and take a picture?
