My Little List of Problems :: Your Input Requested

Remove this ad
One -- my list isn't too large -- it's short.
Two -- I have no codes and these aren't huge issues.

Let's begin...
**
My oil light (in the speedometer) blinks when I am stopped or idling and I had discussed this before -- we came to the conclusion that's it has to be the switch. Good. Solved.
**
Now, I did a short little race today (owned a Jeep by 16 car lengths) and in the process, I smelled a bit of burning oil. This may be typical and no problem. Hopefully so. My engine temp meter is very SLIGHTLY to the right of the mid point... going in for a coolant change soon.
**
Last of all, my transmission seems to run a little rough at 45 MPH and under. Does this mean, YES, I need to take it to the shop and have the trans fluid changed?

Re: My Little List of Problems :: Your Input Requested

1) You can have your oil pressure tested by a shop, they can tell you definativley if it's the switch

2) Burning oil under the hood or from the tailpipe? Blowing anything other than black/grey smoke is bad. If you have an oil smell under your car pull the cradle splash guard and check for any visible oil leaks, prolly an oil pan gasket or half case seal, neither you can do much about unless you drop the cradle and pull the engine

3) What do you mean by rough transmission? Is it slipping/shifting hard? if so you may need new shift solenoids but you'd prolly be throwing a code. Is the engine running rough which you are 'percieving' through the transmission? if it is that's a whole other problem...

Thanks!
By rough, I mean that it shifts a lot in the 45 mph and under range. Seems like it shifts more than normal.

Re: My Little List of Problems :: Your Input Requested

I have a question regarding this. My trans after being rebuilt doesn't seem to shift as firm as it used to. There was some talk of the computer getting set to base values during the code clearing process?

What do we know about this?

01+ had performance shifting algorithms

Mine seems to act as though it may be a bit confused at that lower speed.
Takes the gear though, but seems to feel a little hard and rough. Maybe rough is the wrong term. But does grab in hard. Not clunking hard. But hard just the same.
Have wondered about that myself.

Normal thing ??

Dont have an answer to my question is fine.
I believed it was all prelevent to the thread.
Thought I was paying attention ??

Dont want or dont have answere to my Q...then dont......
Sorry for disrupting your privacy.
Have no idea why Im saying sorry other than it appears I had upset you with a question that was releveant within this thread.

Was only askin bout shifting in 01s that was already talked about and I get a reply stating that you were talking to someone else ?????
