Yes by reducing the weight of your wallet these products will decrease the total weight of your car and therefore increase your millage and your performance.
Expect to get 0.000001 more miles to the gallon and it will reduce your 0-60 times by about 0.00001 seconds
Most automotive manufactures and automotive engineers agree that fuel system cleaners are likely to do more damage then good. some have been know to damage fuel pumps and wreck injectors, etc.
Most oil additives are also considered by most to be "snake oil" marketing and can at the very best "do no good" at the worst...
Or to put it another way... If these additives did perform as they claim and produce more mileage or more power...
Why wouldn't the OE manufactures recommend them?
Marvel Mystery Oil is a solvent. It was a great product back when it was first marketed when oils where not as good as today and engines would get gummed up and lifters would stick and get noisy. You and I both remember those days Walter. With the advances in lubrication, MMO has pretty much outlived it's usefulness. It would do nothing to increase mileage. Unless you are having a particular problem, I would not add it.
MMO is a great product for a lot of things. Increasing mileage I doubt but I'll tell you what I do with it. In the TBI cars about once a year I'll run the recommended dose in the fuel. That's it for that.
In the oil I've always had a regiment that I follow. A day or so before I'm going to do an oil change I'll put a bottle in the crankcase. Do the oil change, and add a bottle of Lucas to the new oil.
Now I know everyone in the world is against all of this stuff but damn it I run all my cars well into the 200k mile range without a hitch so it's certainly not hurting anything.
The theory behind that is to loosen anything in the oil-ways up and bring it to the pan before drainage. Drain all the bad out and fill with new.
I have not done any of this with the N* car only because people keep telling me not to. I do listen and I'm open minded but in the other cars it's worked out well. I think Ranger nailed the reasons why.

Only thing ive ever used it for is getting a engine to start after sitting for 9 years.I removed the spark plugs from my '85 Seville and poured that stuff in there,it worked great for that.As for getter mpg,i call bullshit.
