well i pulled over into a parking lot and let it sit and cool down and then i pulled the codes. Nothing came up nothing relating to my problem any way. i started the car back up and the notice was gone. nothing came up nothing. So i drove around the parking lot. I revved the engine to see if it did and thing and then shut it down. Started it back up and still no notice on the DIC. I was 5 mins from home so i drove it to my house.
still nothing on the dic.
what should i do. This hasn't happened to any of my other cars. this is my winter car. So i hope it can still work because we still have snow on the ground.
help any one?
thanks |

If the oil level is ok, and its holding pressure, I would not worry about it too much. Depending on what kind of driving you were doing, Ive had this come up on a 2000 740iL BMW I had as well when I was driving aggressively, nearly the same message.
What can happen is as the oil is sloshing around during aggressive driving maneuvers, it can slosh away from the sensor and fool the car into thinking its suddely lost its oil pressure. I checked the oil and never saw the message again on my 740.

It's on the oil filter adapter. Before you replace it, pull the connector and clean it with Brakleen or equivalent. It may just be oily. |

Spray it with an electrical parts cleaner, Brakleen or anything that will wash off oil (assuming that it is oily). WD40 would probably work. |

I am going to buy a new fuel filter as well just in case it will only cost me 10 bucks or so for a K&N filter. and also i called our NAPA and they said they could have a new oil sensor/switch in about 4 days. if that is the problem
so I will clean out the sensor.
where is this located ? |

Age: 61 | | | Re: oil pressure. stop engine Looking at that link reminded me that the pressure switch also puts power to the fuel pump after a certain oil pressure is reached, which is why when the relay fails, it causes long crank times as the engine must build oil pressure to enable the fuel pump. |

Ok. I will go and clean it out first and see if that inst the problem.
I drove the car today went about 25 mins with out the light coming one which i guess is a good thing. But if the light comes on then i should stop it even though it is just a switch, because that switch control the oil pump.
thanks man.
you are very smart. |

Aftermarket switches will give false alarms.
