FINALLY, a way to add XM radio and IPOD to Navigation system in Seville, Possibly Dev

Well, here is some good news for all of you folks that want to add XM Radio, IPOD or another input device through the alternative input of your CD changer. I have been working with a company in Florida that will allow THREE seperate RCA inputs into the CD changer input of your NAVIGATION radio (Seville 2002-2004, should also fit Deville 2002-2005). If you have any experience with this subject, you will have found that there is NOTHING on the market that allows you to put alternative inputs into your Navigation Unit. Trust me, I have tried them all! The best solution right now is an XM kit, which is designed for the Cadillac Deville. This unit DOES work on a Seville, by adding a XM button to your navigation screen, BUT, it only hold 12 channels, you can't see what channel you are on when you attempt to manually change channels (the information bar starts flashing from the channel number/artist/song name and makes it next to impossible to identify what channel you are on until it cycles) and several of your buttons blank out as soon as you manually change the XM channel.

Anyway, I found a place in Florida that is CUSTOM designing a cable that has a THREE way, SELECTABLE input device, which will allow you to install a standard XM radio, via a RCA adapter, PLUS and IPOD input AND a third device if you need it.

They will have the cable shipped to me within the next week or two, when I get it in and verify that it works properly, I can let you folks know where to purchase one if you want.

I believe the cable will be about 70.00 dollars. They are putting it into production this week. When I get it and verify it works, I will let you know the exact price. If you don't have DVD nav, there ARE kits out there to add it to your non nav radio. I think peripheral and usa spec make one.

you can go to best buy and they have a Perpheral adapter that allows you to put a rca input into the cd changer input. They state on the box it will work with the 2002 seville as long as it does not have the nav system.

Re: FINALLY, a way to add XM radio and IPOD to Navigation system in Seville, Possibly

Well, this company I am working with would probably make a cable to work with a Non Nav system if someone contacted them. They actually went out and got a Nav system radio for their bench, looked up the wiring diagrams in the service manual and created the appropriate cable (then tested it) and will now put it into production.

I just hope people on this forum purchase these from this company as they bend over backwards to help out their customers.

Re: FINALLY, a way to add XM radio and IPOD to Navigation system in Seville, Possibly

I'll buy one!
I have an '03 STS with NAV and also struck out with all of the major Ipod interface manufaturers so I hard wired the audio from my ipod to a DPDT switch which I inserted into the changer audio.
This way I have ipod audio but thre HU thinks it is talking to the changer.
I'd love to get song titles to display on the HU where the XM info would go.
Please give us the info for the cable and the Interface!
If you don't have your car programmed for XM, do you need to get it reprogrammed with a TechII first for this to work?

Re: FINALLY, a way to add XM radio and IPOD to Navigation system in Seville, Possibly

No, the 2002 does not have an XM option within the nav system anyway. It works through a 3 input RCA jack, which then goes to a 3 way button to select which input you want to come into the CD changer option.

Re: FINALLY, a way to add XM radio and IPOD to Navigation system in Seville, Possibly

I'm very interested. Can you provide some additional information on the cable assembly? Does the cable plug into the 6 disc changer or plug into the back of the nav head unit? Does it splice into the CD audio in a similar way as ktraub's setup? Having the ipod song titles show on the head unit would require serial communication but this just sounds like a splicer cable. Any addition details would be much appreciated.

Thanks
carl
