How should I badge the rear of my STS?

Remove this ad
Now that I've tinted the tails and CHMSL on my car, I'm looking to clean up the rest of the rear. My STS and shield&crest keyguard/emblem on the trunk have faded or missing colors. They need to go.

So, looking at my options:

-Replace with originals and possibly go through this again in the future (seems these are manufactured in the same way as BMW emblems; Neither seem to last long). And this way I retain that stock look (which on the early STS' isn't all that bad).

-Shave them, keylock and all. I would then cut a matching vinyl to cover the lock cylinder for a very sleek look.

-Replace them with the new ('04+) quality chromed look emblems. I really like the new Northstar and STS logos, but my dealer quotes the two at about $50 (the N* one is really expensive for an emblem).

-Leave them alone and spend the money on a few V embz, yo!

I'd say go with OEM for your year STS. Unless you consider doing a few UPGRADES with a newer year model.. then you might consider the NEWER Chrome Emblems.

I got the Northstar one on eBay for like $10 shipped. You can remove them with bumpersticker remover and fishingline.

Go for the '98-'03 STS badges.

Re: How should I badge the rear of my STS?

I voted for the new chrome because I'm like that. That or the original badging is best. The V badging of non V cars got out of hand way to quickly and it's a shame.

I wanted to do it only after doing much work to the car then I realized it was insulting to the team that designed the V's and a disgrace to what the V series stands for.

It's a Cadillac not a Honda. No shaving of emblems.

The V logo choice was a joke.

It doesn't matter what you do to the car. If it didn't come from the GM Performance Division, you shouldn't have it wearing their badge.

Awww.... but I hates the older painted badges. It's like advertising just how cheap GM is with everything. Maybe if I chromed or blacked out the originals...

Also, why only if I do upgrades? It's a real STS and the badges don't say it's from a particular year, so it wouldn't be like badging a base Seville as one (and I definately wouldn't want to pretend I had a newer "blimped" Seville).
The trim on the car is chrome. It makes no sense why they painted the center of the emblems grey.

Hmm. I didn't even think of those (guess I never gave it a thought that they changed with the design refresh). Do you have pics?
