    1996 STS Auto Headlight Issue

First off, thank in advance for any replies that I get.

My auto headlights dont seem to be working properly. When I first get in my car (when it's dark) they come on just fine. The dash lights up properly and the inside courtesy lights work. After about 1 or 2 minutes, the auto lights go off, the dash lights go out and the courtesy lights dont work when I open the door. Everything works just fine manually or course. Any ideas on what the issue could be? This is one of those annoying issues that just keeps consuming my time. Any help would be great!

Re: 1996 STS Auto Headlight Issue

if you start your car in the dark like a garage your courtesy lights will come on and auto head lights will also come on when you start it. (courtesy lights only come on only if it is darker out when the light sensor on the dash says so.) But if you drive into light (like day time)out of garage The light will auto shut off because you dont need them on and courtesy lights also will not come on, but will auto turn on when it gets dark or you drive into a tunel.
Hope this helps. i think there is nothing wrong.

Re: 1996 STS Auto Headlight Issue

Thanks for the response...however, that is not it. I am not talking at all about when it is light out. I mean when it is dark. Now last night, the auto lights did not even come on at all. No interior courtesy lights, no dash lights. Again, they all worked when I manually turned them on, but I want them to function as they are supposed to. Anyone else? Some help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advace for the responses.

Re: 1996 STS Auto Headlight Issue

    Update......
Well, I went to install some subs today. In doing this, I had the battery completely disconected for about 2 or 3 hours. I'm assuming that this reset the computer because tonight, the auto lights came on properly and did not cut out as they had been doing. I drove for about 30 minutes or so and yeah....they stayed on. The interior courtesy and dash seem to be working properly as well. I even turned the car off and back on a few times and they were fine. So is it possible that the computer might have just been somehow confused and needed to reset? Thanks again for the responses.
