120 miles on a 1/8th tank?!?

Remove this ad
Has anyone noticed in 98+ sevilles after a fill-up rolling up to 100+ miles with only an 1/8th of a tank gone? Recently ive been noticing this, though I cannot say if it's been something that has always been there. But I get about 16mpg and close to 300miles out of a tank. But I recently have been getting service engine with a P0171 code and just tonight it has been staying on with P0171 and P0174 codes.. So Im getting a lean bank 1 and rich bank 2.. Any ideas?!?!?! I'm kind of annoyed by the yellow service engine soon light. Other than the weird gas mileage ive kind of noticed shifting from say drive to reverse seems kind of jumpy.. Any help is appreciated. Im about to give my buddy a call who is good with cars for some help in these codes which Im hoping to be only a vaccum leak?

MacK

correction.. Codes state rich bank 1 and rich bank 2.

Re: 120 miles on a 1/8th tank?!?

LOL yeah I get really good mileage in the city (15-17mpg) and my needle show it 3/4 full. On the next start up, it moves down a notch.

I thought you said "rich" bank 1 & 2. Check for a leaky FPR.

Re: 120 miles on a 1/8th tank?!?

Yep, my ETC drops like a ROCK at 1/4 tank and under. If I get 100 miles on the top 1/4, I'll get 30 on the bottom 1/4. Just the way the guage/tank is or something.

Whoops sorry Ranger, rich bank 1 & 2.. I do recall ordering a FPR per your part number way back when.. And when I went to install it it was different and I just kind of forgot about it. Ill check though thanks
Danwec- Kinda of goofy no? 1st time I was like.. 1/8th tank and 100miles! Im shootin for the best MPG ever! In the end im about empty and under 300 miles to the tank.

Re: 120 miles on a 1/8th tank?!?

Don't forget that the needle does not move as you burn off the top of the tank. Especially if you top it off. I usually get 1 round trip to work (80 miles) before the needle moves off full.
