So I'm selling my CTS in preparation of the new '08 coming out, but I need something to drive in the meantime (and maybe replace my e30 as my new daily afterwards). The mid-nineties STS and ETC are on my "bang for the buck" list. They top my list of affordable, yet respectable cars.
Test drove a '94 STS today. Need a few questions answered and figured I would bring them to the experts.
1) The body of this one (a sapphire blue-like color) was flawless (which is saying a lot in Michigan with our winters and road salt) except for a tear in the bumper cover behind the driver's side rear wheel. It looks like the previous owner probably bumped into something. Oddly, no stress cracks just a tear a couple inches long.
This will need to be replaced. While I'm at it, I was wondering if there were different options other than the stock rear cover (maybe a subdued aftermarket or later year that would fit)?
2) The DIC has an error about the suspension (forget the exact wording, but I believe it may be related to the load leveling rear shocks). Is this a common problem with an easy fix or does it usually run into replacement of major suspension parts?
If it does, is there an Eibach, Bilstein, or H&R sport suspension I could upgrade to? Maybe a little drop and tighter ride?
3) It has 18" chrome aftermarkets for wheels (didn't recognize the brand, had some kind of V on them). They're blemish free, ride nice, and are horribly ugly. The stockers don't come with the car. Anyone suggest a nice looking wheel to replace them with that won't run me a fortune?
