Where to find a GOOD sunroof

Remove this ad
Anyone know where to find a good sunroof?
I drive a 1996 Seville STS w/o a sunroof!

I don't know whether or not I can get the OEM sunroof, but whatever I get, it has to be high quality, not cheap rice. If you know of where to get one or have any advice, post.

Thanks

Re: Where to find a GOOD sunroof

i really really liked my sunroof in my 99 SLS. one button controlled it all, and unlike my 02 STS, it would close automatically when the car was shut off. anyone know why this is? it kinda pisses me off that the sunroof in my old car was better than the new one...

and my 02 doesn't close automatically! go figure... i guess they figured in a decline in bird population in 01 so they figured to hell with it... haha

I'm also interested in a sunroof for my 97 STS but it seems know one has answered the question. What would have to be done, I want it to look OEM as much as possible.

Re: Where to find a GOOD sunroof

what i could do is check out the manufacturer of the sunroof for you guys on my 99- there's a sticker on the door jam that says everthing about it if i remember right. i would have to get ahold of the current owner, but me and him are buds so maybe i could do this sometime this week. and trust me- that's the sunroof you want. it's a good one.

Re: Where to find a GOOD sunroof

I really dont think its possible to get an oem sunroof in a non-sunroof car. There is always the aftermarket road to take. Though I hate aftermarket. I guess the only real difference is the double weatherstipping on top and the 1 button control inside (just doesnt look oem, IMO). Couldnt say what it would cost for installation.

Re: Where to find a GOOD sunroof

yeah, the 99 sunroof had a black button with a green backlight. but my 02 has matching switches and looks very OEM.

Re: Where to find a GOOD sunroof

My '01 has an aftermarket sunroof. They integrated it VERY nicely. The control switches (mounted up near the Homelink) are lit with interior lights, and the sunroof automatically closes when the car is shut off. No windnoise, no leaks, it's a very professional job. The Cadillac dealer from whom I bought the car had it done. They say the same shop's been doing all their sunroofs for over 30 years. I'll try to figure out who actually makes the sunroof in my car.

Re: Where to find a GOOD sunroof

Okay, I got curious.

My sunroof--nay, moonroof--is made by Webasto Hollandia International. I've never heard of them, but they've apparently been in the business forever. Their website:

http://www.webasto.us/press/en/am_au...roofs_485.html

I have the Hollandia 700 series.

Features:

- Self deploying wind deflector
- Illuminated Soft-Touch control panel (photo on the PDF brochure)
- 2 user-programmable buttons
- Automatic ignition-off auto close
- Integrated safety system prevents auto closing on foreign objects
- Optional rain sensor available

And I have no idea on pricing. I can take as many pictures of it as anyone would like.

Edit:

For those interested, my moonroof was installed by Tops and Trends, in Kernersville, NC:

Re: Where to find a GOOD sunroof

Okay, here are some pictures I took after work today:

Moon roof closed; sits flush:

Closed, from the inside. The panel color matches perfectly:

Here is the control pad. The front/rear buttons move the glass in that direction. The small C button will move it to closed from any position. The 1 and 2 buttons are for user-programmable positions (halfway, etc):

Here's half open:

Here's half open from the inside:

Full open, from above:

Here, you can see the small wind deflector popped up:

Detail of the sliding track and deflector:

Open, from inside (back seat):

Just vented open:

Vented, from behind:

If you want any other shots, let me know.

Re: Where to find a GOOD sunroof

Pretty cool.
Just one problem:

* I see a Seville that's tan without the moonroof.

I'd get that fixed
Imma have to call the dealer up now!
Thanks for the pics.
