Question Coolant Q

Remove this ad
A newbie at N*'s, I keep reading that the coolant can be a huge problem if not changed regularly. I just bought a '94 ETC and it averages a 205 degrees F temp. What should it be at? is this too high? thanks!

Re: Coolant Q

205 - 215 is normal. If you do not know when it was last changed, change it. 50/50 Dex-Cool and distilled water.

Re: Coolant Q

I believe it is recomeded to put in sealant tablets also, available at your local caddy dealer, about 5$ for a pack of 5.

Re: Coolant Q

Dexcool is good coolant, but I believe will be money wasted on a '94, as it originally came with green coolant. Dexcool is designed to extend your change intervals, when originally used at the factory, but its benefits will be overcome if the engine's been run with green since new.

The normal change interval for the green coolant is every 2-3 years or every 24-36k miles.
