Oil thickness (fix by sumping? if due to starvation), high heat condition (reflow cylinder head?), ZDDP/additives lacking (Clarkz71?), or dare I say crappy motor and just give up altogether. Just some thoughts.
Run a good diesel oil, I use Rotella 10/30 and/or use GM EOS or the
    Valvoline synpower additive.

Watch out. Gm has discontinued EOS and the new versions of Rotella have
less ZDDP than they used too. There are some aftermarket ZDDP additives
that u can buy- really good for pre 2000 N* engines

Your almost correct, GM is releasing a new formula EOS. Part# 88862586
It is reformulated to satisfy the EPA. Still good as an additive though.

Same with the Rotella, less ZDDP then the old stuff, more then SM rated
API starburst oil however. So it's still better for 99 & older Northstar's.

I just got a e-mail back from Wester and for the way I want to go with my Engine they said to work on the Exhaust side of the cam. Also have been talking to a pcm company to see if I can replace the Cadillac unit with there unit. Which they offer some direct replacements for gm car. It sound like a lot of work but I got time to burn there software is plug and play which I like so we will see.

Yah. The added lines help to compare the graphs of the 2 motors. LD8 spends more time (over the RPM range) above 250 ft/lbs (never below?). Both motors seem to be best in the 3200 to 4400 RPM range. It would be nice to overlay graphs, etc. to see which gives best area under the curve.

AJ, can you change the shift points in a 95. I already have the fastchip but they didnt touch that stuff.

I'm also very interested in your shift kit

I'd be willing to test this back to back at a track with my fastchip. My cadillac is very consistant, so the difference in chips will be accurate.

Is Westers and Fastchip the only tuners for the 93-95 Northstars?.....Can my local GM tuners do it to or is it Taboo and exclusive?........Ya know what I mean? And what HP are they claiming? Also what parameters are they changing?......I have a 2001 STS, but Im asking, cause Im frustrated and may get a 95......Any response would be graetly appreciated (preferably from obd1 owners, with experience)......

Re: 93 to 95 Northstar Tuning

I have the chip in my car...planning on selling the car though!!!

Anybody know where I can get a used transmission pretty cheap? I'm going to sell the car but the transmission is out and I figured I'd get more out of it with a cheap transmission installed. If I have to pay 2500 for a new transmission and only get 3000 out of my car then its not really worth it.

AJ - Would you have any interest at all in tuning my 94 Eldorado ETC? I am willing to pay you cash money to do this. Let me know, I can't message you yet as this forum is setup with a retarded "feature" that won't let me PM people until I have 30 posts. Let me know, thanks!
