Since I drive a cadillac -76 i couldn't care less on that one and even if i got a cadillac as a daily driver ( hopefully a FWB -94 to -96 or a newer STS) and drove them all around the year, i wouldn't care less.
Gas hasn't reacht it's right value yet - try and push a cadillac a mile and see what you wanna be paid. ;-)

I will drive what I want to drive, but I drive whatever I drive conservatively to get the best mpg I can with the car I happen to be driving.
Also, a good used car with lower mpg is still cheaper than a new car with great mpg, as the savings on the used car (insurance, taxes, the initial price itself) almost always makes up the difference between it and a new car. You can buy alot of gasoline with the savings!

You definitely hit the nail buddy .
PS-You have to be careful when buying a pre owned vehicle otherwise some repair cost might be nuisance .
My two cents on the thread ,if you can afford a Cadillac then you can afford gas .Today's Cadillac engines relatively still has more fuel efficiency to other manufacturers imo .
For instance , a Northstar Cadillac has a better MPG to W140 S320 despite 6 bangers and it makes sense it's much better to S500 |

Well, I pay just under $7 a gallon over here, the STS gets about 14mpg in traffic on the way to and from work, but the roundtrip is only 18 miles...
Beyond that the car gets used for a 600 mile round trip twice a year (24mpg) and about 150 miles a month in more regular traffic where it gets about 19mpg.
So overall I do about 500-600 miles a month and use about 35-40 gallons a month and spend $250 or so. I'm happy with that. |

i'd never sell the V cause of gas milage unless shit hits the fan and we get 8.00/gal |

I'm barely in-between. If my overall mileage averaged in the single digits, I'd have to opt for something else to drive, since I commute 100 miles per day. And I watch the mileage metrics pretty carefully day in, day out. They are measures of how well the drive system is functioning. My recently-acquired-with-mystery-history 02 SLS gets over 26 avg, mostly highway driving. The instantaneous mileage is really interesting to watch, especially after a repair or maintenance operation. |

Put my situation like this: when I bought my first Caddy, gas was still under $1.30 per gallon, when I got my '91 Seville, it was still in that range, maybe a bit higher. I had the same thought as many do; since I own a luxury car, I shouldn't have an issue paying for the gas. I didn't have any issues at all until premium unleaded hit $3.30 last summer while my daily driver had to drive my ass over 300 miles per week, all the while I'm netting a cool 18.5 mpg. Think about that...
So what I did was get me a '98 Buick Regal LS that easily gets 25+ mpg, looks good, is reliable, powerful, and I still have my two baby Cadillacs. So the way I look at my situation now is that I win... |

Craig | I hope you weren't referring to my post. If so, re-read and see what I'm saying. In a nutshell, the point of the story is this: when I bought the car, gas was quite affordable and the car was getting 18 (often times less) mpg, which wasn't a real problem given the gas prices at the turn of the century. When gas prices did more than double, add in the same mileage and you can see why I bought the Regal...

I just recently went from a four banger Jetta (98) to an '01 STS, double the cylinders but almost triple the horses. I used to get ~26 MPG with the Jetta and now I get ~18 with the STS, more than a 25% drop in MPG. BUT...I still squeeze out better than 300 miles city driving. All in all, despite having to shell out more for gas, I think anyone would agree that the caddy is a far superior vehicle to be cruising in. it might hurt more at the pump, but at least (in my case) it the pain doesn't come any more frequently.
Besides, if I really wanted fuel economy, I wouldn't be looking at a V8... | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
