The new sporty ones, or the older boaty ones? I've always wondered, what type of Cadillac is more popular on here? The two main types are the big, boaty ones and the smaller, more european styled models, along with the suvs ands trucks. I'm definetly a classic Cadillac man, I love the big dimensions, big engines, big gas bills, soft suspensions, soft seats. I don't particularly like where Cadillac is going nowadays, but you gotta do what you gotta do to stay alive. And a "eurojap" Cadillac is better than no Cadillac at all. I just hope their attempt is much better than Oldsmobile's attempt. They tried to become more european starting with their swan song '95 Aurora, and eight years later, they were gone. But from what I've seen, Cadillac will do much, much better. |

I am definitely a fan of older cars (muscle cars), but not so much older Cadillacs.

i wouldnt exactly call it eurojap, i mean this is the way American motorsports are going. its what people want, they dont want old floaty big cars anymore. someone asked me the other day what i drive, i said 2003 Cadillac CTS. they looked at me and said, "why? why would you want a big gas guzzling car like that?" unfortunately that image is still associated with Cadillac, which is a shame really. Cadillac has become a major player in the car game as of late and now actually rivaling BMW and Mercedes Benz, something i dont think could have been said 5-10 years ago. not saying the older ones arent nice cause i like them too, but the newer Caddies (IMO) are a lot nicer and more fun to drive. but to each their own. |

I call them "Eurojap" because they're trying to be the American BMW, M-B and Lexus all at once. Ever since the mid '80s, Cadillac's sales have gone down the toilet thanks to the imports, and *most* people didn't want the boaty old models anymore, so they had to adapt to stay competitive, and that's where the new models come in. But I think they sold out to remain competitive, which is the way business always goes. True, now they are very competitive with the big imports, but back in the '70s and early '80s when my favorite type of Cadillacs were rolling off the assembly lines, BMW and M-B were hardly competition and Lexus wasn't even born yet. So Cadillac could stay big and boaty, and no one would complain, and back then, the American dream was a Cadillac, not a BMW, M-B or Lexus like it is today. |

everything started to go bad in the 80s. the V8-6-4 and the ht4100, the fwd Devilles/Fleetwoods/Sevilles. the 80s Cadillac had to start to change and make smaller fwd cars. Lexus was around in the 80s, just not as big as they are now. BMW was still the ultimate driving machine back then, MB made some beauties (sport and luxury), Cadillac had some beauties but had tons of problems with quality and really no comparo to MB and BMW in the 80s. MB and BMW were on a different level (but not better than) Cadillac. now 70s & below i dont have much for arguement... i like those but i would much rather have a new Cadillac than an old one... like i said, personal opinion. |

Case in point: Town Car.
If GM could come up with something like that, use that 5.3 V8 with DOD, make it get 19/28 MPG, and make the vehicle look like the Broughams, but make it look modern and yet classic, name it the Fleetwood, Fleetwood Brougham or Brougham and it'll sell tons! I know there is a big demand for a BOF RWD luxury sedan! Don't let Lincoln and Ford have the whole market! Shit, we could even downsize it a bit and share it with Buick/Chevrolet! |

CTS is too small and sporty, DTS is fwd, STS is just right. i think Cadillac has it right. they are selling the best they have in YEARS! that shows they are doing something right. |

The new sporty ones, or the older boaty ones? I never said it had to look like a Town Car. I think the newest generation is quite ugly to be honest. I think the 300 is probably the "better" looking car, but they both pale in comparison to the Fleetwood Brougham. I think it should be like a Fleetwood Brougham, but at a size that people would be most comfortable with, and it should be handle/ride more like a 300C not the Town Car. Now, that's not to say it shouldn't be soft, it should be soft, but not a boat, probably like the 00-07 DTS. Those seem to be well liked by the car magazines, who usually hate boats. |

I don't dislike the euro-style, but I don't dream about them.
I dream about late-70's and early-80's Eldorados. I dream about the 1966 Fleetwood.
I have wet dreams about owning a 1960 Coupe de Ville. Black. |

I don't really get the eurojap comment. Other than the fact that they offer models that are smaller now than before, I don't see much european or japanese styling of the cars.
With that said, I like both the old and the new Cadillacs. |

The new sporty ones, or the older boaty ones? Where's the option for both. I've driven a 1959 Eldorado a 2000 Deville and a 2002 Escalade enough to know that I like the feel of each. The effortless power of the 59 and that smooth floaty ride is a dream. The Northstar in the 2000 was a blast for a 17 year old and it really sings when you get it up in the RPM range. And there really isn't a feeling quite like flooring the gas pedal of your Escalade when it's totally loaded with all your stuff for college and it still accelerates as well as it does empty. I don't think suspension setups indicate Cadillac - it's the features/amenities and 'new technology' that do.
