Like the big ones. Small & sporty berlongs over at Chevy & Pontiac.
Big & comfy and soft & plush are Lincoln & Caddy ~ well, and Imperial, too.
I saw a CTS Limousine in Manhattan & it looked ridiculous !! |

I really like the style and class the older Cadillacs have, but I just love the performance and technology involved in the newer ones. |

Since I was 14, I've wanted to own a '70s Cadillac. Just by looking at them I knew I had to have on someday, but after driving that '77 Town Car, I decided I didn't like how the '70s luxury cars, especially the Lincolns drove, too mushy, too isolated for me. I've heard though that the Cadillacs are a lot less isolated, which is very good, but I do not know because I've never driven one. The closest I came to a '70s Cadillac is a '78 Toronado and a '74 Custom Cruiser, and I didn't think that either were too much of a boat, it handled a lot better than the '77 TC and I felt a lot more "comfortable" (no pun intended) behind the wheel of that.
Anyways, after driving many '77-'92 D-Bodies, I feel like those are the best combination of the old school and new school of thought. They are gorgeous cars, but they're surprisingly easy to drive, especially with the 350. They feel no where near as large as that '77 TC did, heck, they even feel smaller than a '90s Town Car!
I think the best Cadillac ever would be a of the '90-'92 Brougham D'Elegance sedans, modified to handle a little better, yet still give a very "cadillacy" ride, with a more powerful 350 or 500, capable of 1/4 mile times in the 13's-14's, yet still be able to get decent mileage.
But as far as stock Cadillacs go, I really like driving the '93-02 Eldorados and the 91-93 deVilles. The later deVilles feel bigger behind the wheel, yet lack that "classic" feeling that the 91-93 deVilles have. It's hard to describe. They handle pretty good for a FWD luxury sedan, have plenty of oomph from the 4.9 and are very predictable in most driving situations. The Eldorado would just be fun though! 275-300hp would be so much fun on unsuspecting kids in wimpy 4 bangers! Plus it's a sexy car that will garner lots of attention. Ugh! I really want one! |

Something about a nice old deville gets me going and I love the '78-91 Fleetwoods. Too bad for all the dismal powerplants Cadillacs had in the 80's though. Cadillacs have always had edgy sharp styling by design and the new ones still do but the new ones dont seem to have the flair the old ones did. Nobody is gonna look at a new STS and think mafia car. The new ones blend in a little too well with everything else and are not as distinctive as the older ones. When I think Cadillac of the big old tanks that ruled the road. I do like the new V series Cadillacs but I dont think they are "real" Cadillacs. |

When I mentioned "the best Cadillac ever" the car that came to mind was your '91, Destroyer. I love what you have done with that car! I can only hope I get one and make it like that, but I'd do a 5 seater interior with a center console and floor shift too! And damnit, I'd find out some way to incorporate full instrumentation into the dashboard with a clean, factory look! |

The new sporty ones, or the older boaty ones? It really depends on the decade for me. I love the old Cadillac's of the late 1920's and 1930's as well as the ones of the 50's. I'm a fan of the "Mafia Don" image of Cadillac in the 20's/30's. The long wheelbase, the upscale interior, and of course, the V16 all contributed to the image that Cadilac was truly for the wealthy. $10,000 for a Cadillac in 1930 would be like a Cadillac for $200,000-$300,000 today.
The 1950's really had the true "boaty" Cadillac's. A huge engine, a huge wheelbase, huge tailfins, everything was HUGE!
I don't care for the later Cadillac's of the 1960's-1990's (except for the 1976 Eldorado and my 1990 Caddy).
The new Cadillac's don't hold a candle to the Cadillac's of yester-year. Cadillac is still a reputable nameplate but nowadays people dream of owning Lexus, Mercedes, BMW etc instead of the American luxury cars like Cadillac and Lincoln. I love the new V-Series, it brings out the performance history of Cadillac.
I'd have to vote both. |

Modern Cadillacs are the antithesis of Japanese, with loud supercharged V8s and powerful styling. Thats why I love them. |

LOL Jesda, more anti japan than 5000lbs of steel, chrome and leather powered by a old tech pushrod V8 of biblical proportions that will get no more than 13 miles to one gallon? |
