3rd Gen Cadillac CTS-V - Start Saving Now!

It's reported that the 3rd Generation Cadillac CTS-V will be getting GM's new Twin-Turbo V-8 LT1 Engine. That's also the same engine that's going into the new C7 Corvette ZR1! I guess that new Z06 Supercharged LT4 Engine isn't good enough for the new V I'm certain they'll be making a coupe version, since they've already shown the new ATS coupe (not digging the new emblem).

Let the dilemma begin...Here's one argument for replacing the V2 - I'm sure this will finally be getting some cylinder deactivation technology. The gas savings alone is worth it, should you decide to drive it like a Pruis Might be able to sell the wife, just saying...

GM is clearly doing something incredible! These new cars are going to be scary fast and "affordable". Let's give them a hand

I get it now. GM will never actually sell a single ATS-V or CTS-V, they'll just keep floating rumors of even-more-powerful Vs just over the horizon.

Whenever you read MotorTrend's news blog, picture that it's coming from a breathless nine-year-old, with all the veracity that implies.

I still want a V-6 twin turbo for the V. I'll take the better mileage any day over this big dog.

You can have it in the CTS V sport.

An ATS Vsport could be a swell car -- pump up the turbo four to 350hp and give it a manual transmission.

Don't believe the BS you read in car magazines. They are just guessing most of the time or they have unreliable inside sources that don't know what they are talking about. I will say it once and I will say it again, don't believe anything you read unless it's an official GM press release.

Lets not forget about including AWD in ATS Vsport.

Its all speculation at this point but new info points to no ZR1, no turbos and some kind of shared motor between the Z07 (if its called that) and the CTS-V3.

I would ve extremely surprised, with the application of turbos over a blow, but I guess we will see!

GM already unveiled the 2015 Z06, with the available Z07 option. It's pretty obvious that the V3 will share the LT4 engine with the Z06 in order to get the V3 to market sooner. The LT4 has already been developed at this point in time.

GM hasn't even unveiled the ATS-V, which everyone knows is coming, so I don't expect to see the V3 until the Fall of 2015 as a 2016 model year car. If we were going to see the V3 this fall (2014), I think GM would have unveiled it at the NAIAS already.

Re: 3rd Gen Cadillac CTS-V - Start Saving Now!

But to be fair, the three C6 models (base, Z06, ZR-1) had three different engines and the CTS-V actually had a fourth one (yes I know they're all based on the same 6.2 liter LS3 except the 7 liter LS7). So there is precedent for all three Corvette models to have a unique engine, I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest there could be a twin turbo V8 for the ZR-1. I assumed the next CTS-V would have the LT4 but I would be pleasantly surprised if it got a twin turbo LT1-based engine instead. And frankly if the ZR-1 is going to make 700 HP, which it's going to need to in order to distance itself from the Z06, twin turbos are a better way to do it than a supercharger.

I really hope that part of it is true and that it does go into the CTS-V. If the new V got that and the traction issues sorted out... man. Just the tunability of a big twin turbo V8 alone is enough to get me excited. Then all they would have to do is make a wagon version. With the TR-6070 manual.

WHY CAN'T GM SEE HOW SIMPLE IT IS?!
