It was three years ago that Cadillac switched to ad agency Modernista!, and one year leater it rolled out its "Life. Liberty. And the Pursuit." campaign. In a four-sentence statement put out by Cadillac General Manager Bryan Nesbitt, the brand is looking for a new agency and Modernista! "has elected not to participate" in the search.

There have been various reasons given for the split. An agency rep said it was down to "creative and strategic differences." Another report said it was about fees and Cadillac not being able to stick with a small independent, versus going with a shop under the same corporate umbrella as GM's other ad agencies. And Fritz Henderson said "We think we can do better."

Cadillac did well enough with the Kate Walsh ads, and its Reignition spot created the kind of anticipation the brand sorely needs. We look forward to seeing what kind of "better" Henderson and Lutz have in mind. In the meantime, follow the jump to check out some memorable Caddy ads from Modernista and a spot from the campaign before, "Breakthrough."

That article is misleading in that the "Breakthrough" clip is included, making it seem that Modernista created it...if you don't read carefully. Anyhow, I think the new vehicles speak for themselves and shouldn't need celebrity endorsements.

They need simpler ads that focus on the technology and build quality, not flashy artistic shots of the car streaming through traffic. Cadillac has features that blow away those offered by Lexus, but since Lexus spotlights the tech in their ads, the public thinks the opposite.

Slow camera shots of the vehicle, a smooth, baritone narration explaining some awesome features, and make mention of the awards, both for performance and safety. The current ads focus solely on looks, and that doesn't cut it compared to the competition.
Rest in Peace, J.D. (aka Dirt_Cheap_Fleetwood)

A prestige brand is very wrong to feature "endorsements" by celebrities in their adds, after all the prestige should be generated by the quality of the product and its' ability to perform to the very high standards of its' design objectives. Real trend setters aren'y interested in the opinion (payed for) of some celebrity who may or may not know what they are talking about!
