I cannot imagine they are not doing anything in secret to compete in this class. Maybe they had some delay and they don't want the public to expect something they cannot deliver soon enough.
I mean, the SIxteen had cost enough and shows the capability |

Maybe all isn't lost just because there won't be a V-12 though. I really do hope they get the next gen DTS right. |

The old guy you say???

The one that almost got fired about 2 years ago for saying they had intentions of killing off Buick or Pontiac.

He lost his JOB. YES He lost his JOB and got sent away.
He got a big demotion to some bogus title.
I think the new title was VP of global alliance? He was to look into a global focus and consolidation of platforms. He wanted to share cars, trucks, and SUV's globally also. He wanted to put Trailblazers in England and UTE's in the US.
.
Well we got the Opel GT or what ever it was 4 years ago. http://www.opel.com/brand_sites/gt/ |

The STS project appears to be stalled, the SRX though improved appears to be dead in the water. The CTS program is a bit to conservative. And the DTS program is where?
Cadillac needs leadership to stand aggressive with the GM Board, too little is being done to woo the customers. I am predicting after the initial launch the CTS release will stall. Why because Cadillac has learned nothing from it's previous mistakes, you can't launch a limited luxury program! The CTS should be launched with a Sedan, Coupe, and a Cross over. Over time the model can be upgraded, but initially it should be marketed at several thousand dollars less than BMW 3 Series.
Cadillac is failing to realize it's thought of a a bread and butter, luxury line, not a World Class line yet. Yes, the brand has made large strives, with the introduction of the Northstar system in 1993, the first generation of the Escalade, the CTS, and the ever popular DTS. But now is not the time to "rest" on past laurels (no pun intended).
The 2008 CTS has a great interior (that belongs in a premium model, not the base car). In the base car a micro-suede, or a quality leatherette, to keep the price down and competitive. Higher-end buyers will opt for the more luxuriously appointed models (they may not be as price conscious), but those trading up from Pontiac, Acura, or 3 Series BMW may be "caught" by the lower entry level prices and brought into a Cadillac Showroom.
As the walk-in traffic dictates, future models can offer more in the way of luxury, performance, and Eco-friendly powertrains, that may influence more Euro interests. I am amazed the MBA's that GM's product planners employ cannot figure this out? Is it that all are bean counters and not car people? | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
