Destroyer, those are some scary statistics. I think there's an example of getting to be too big. Wal-Mart's stock price hasn't been going anywhere lately, so I think continued growth will lead to diminishing returns.

In one of the Wal-Mart documentaries I watched, they mentioned there's a fund where Wal-Mart employees can have deductions from their paychecks, and the fund helps fellow employees in an emergency. The employees gave $5 million. The Walton family, which ranks just below Bill Gates and Warren Buffet in the wealth department, gave a whole $6,000.

I don't care for Microsoft products or their business practices either, but I have more respect for Bill Gates in that he's giving most of his wealth away and actually using a business model for his foundation based on measurable results.

And as I've said before, I'm still just one consumer, but I'm glad I'm not giving Wal-Mart any of my money (not that they need it).

I SUPPORT ALL YOU WAL MART HATERS!!!! Me and my father know many people with personal experiences in dealing with walmart. My father used to sell wal mart in a past company....VERY difficult to deal with. If you have a new product...they take it send it to THEIR factories overseas...knock it off...and tell u to sue them! Nobody can outlast walmart in court. They have so much $$ nobody can outlast the court fees...therefore walmart ALWAYS wins. You slip and break a leg in walmart and file a lawsuit...walmart sues you for you not watching your actions......argggg I could go on FOREVER about this company....makes me so freakin mad!!! and then in tarpon they won to take down a nature preserve area to knock it down to build a walmart...fkkin kidding me!!!! argggg!!! IM IRRITATED!

Re: For all you stupid walmart lovers!!

I do shop at wal-mart. Since this thread has started, I've been there twice. I bought a gallon of milk at two in the morning the other day, because I had just gotten off of work and wanted milk. I got home, opened it, noticed the expiration date was a week prior.

The downward spiral begins. Since this thread started, I've been weening myself slowly OFF of walmart. I hate target because for a year and a half, target was the only thing nearby to my house, and they didn't have spraypaint or ammunition, two things that I wanted and needed at the time.

I will continue to shop at WalMart for both of those, among other things, because it saves me a whole lot of money. BUT, I've been working on buying the mass quantities of OTHER things, that I can get elsewhere for reasonable prices, at Target or local business. I've always disliked WalMart for all the reasons mentioned here, but never thought about it...

We'll see if it lasts. I DO know that 9mm ammo at Wal Mart is at least 50% less than any other local retailer, and after shipping, is 20% less than ammoman.com, cabelas.com or cheaperthandirt.com. I go through a lot of ammo. Walmart saves me thirty bucks a week in 9mm ammo. I will continue to buy it there because it saves me a LOT of money.

Other stuff, the daily necessities, I'll buy through Target, which, since I moved, is closer to my house anyways. BUT, if I need something in the middle of the night, I'll go to WalMart. Whatever. I need it, they have it.

Re: For all you stupid walmart lovers!!

There's something very wierd about being able to guy guns and ammunition at a large retalier, I feel much safer buying that stuff from a place that specializes in guns and ammunition. That's just me though, and you can't go wrong with saving money, especially that much.

Re: For all you stupid walmart lovers!!

My good ammo, target and hunting stuff, I buy from ammo wholesalers. My 9mm crap that I just plink with, I buy in bulk from Wally world.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but northern california wal marts can no longer sell firearms. They broke too many laws, selling to felons and minors and such...

But, if you buy a Ruger, its going to be the same ruger as you would buy from the guns only dealer...same warranty, same box, same gun.

Re: For all you stupid walmart lovers!!

I can't imagine a world where you can't buy guns and ammo everywhere. Around here sporting goods are a huge business. Compared to other other sporting goods stores WalMart is pretty much small potatoes.

dont go there then

the rest is common sense. money is money and business is business. i bet if the ones hatin on walmart were at the top, they wouldnt give a damn.

see the thing is, wal mart offers low prices cause they move alot of merchandise. and the reason they do that is because they pass savings on to the customer. most mom and pop stores are greedy and will keep their prices high even after a good month. people need to realize that less is more. move more product at a lower (even slightly) price and youll end up with more money in the end. its common sense. then you'll also get more people who want to shop with you, which means you'll sell even more stuff, and need to order more, and the quicker you can move it, and the more you can move, chances are the conne-*ahem* supplier will offer you more units for a lower price per unit. thats the way it works thats why wal mart can afford to keep the prices low. thats why mom and pop stores dont survive

as fas as k mart and those other chains mentioned - ive never seen a walmart look as bad as the best kmart. the people chose walmart over kmart its that simple. kmart had every opportunity that walmart did. they shoulda stepped their game up
OHHHHHH YA
What you said.
It is common sense.

Why bash these companys for doing what works.
When Walmart started there were many others already in business. If JC-Penny had half a brain they would have done the same. But as usuall the ones that want to get rich over night crash and burn.

Blaming and hating a company for prospering because they give the consumer what they want is just thick headed and ignorant.
Any one can do it if they really want to succeed.

Whats that saying now....."Dont hate the player hate the game."

Well if your hating the player then basically you are against the whole idea of prosperity. The whole idea of one trying to succed in life; To make onself better, prosperous, secure and succesfull.

And if you are truelly against any person/company that attempts to succeed; to expand and give to the public what they believe that the public wants at the same time as attempting to be prosperous on there own ?

Then why the hell would you want to buy even a North American vehicle ??

Is that not what Ford was doing when he started out ?
Take over the market while at the same time prospering ??

Ok then sure lets all buy Ford. But in the long run its all the same. Just making someone else bigger and making someone else more money.

It doesnt matter where they are from or where the money is going. Its all one big planet and in the end all the cash ends up in the same pockets.

If you cant or are not able to give the consumer what they want at the same time as making a profit, (and generally that occurs because of simple greed and allusions of overnight riches, which is really the North American mind set), then you are doomed to fail.

And so then whom is to blame for that ?

Dont blame the one whom is making it.
Dont blame the one whom is prospering.
Dont hate the player, hate the game.

Now lets be serious here.
If you were to show me a product that looked good enough to produce and patent and you hadnt .......Welllllllll I just may consider to go ahead and do it myself to.
As well as would thousands of other companys out there.
And trust me it happens all the time.

You hurt yourself in any establishment and go to sue, and by all means they will go to any and all expense to defend themselves.
That is the way it is with any company/corporation wether privatelly or corperatally owned.
Is the way it is.

With this kind of mind set then no one should even consider entering any kind or sort of large chain or corporation.

No sports distributer. IE. Sport Chek
McDonalds.
Any restaurant chain for that matter.
Carefull where you buy your gas from.
Whos your internet provider ??? Whos hands are there pockets in ??

Lets not forget your hydro and etc.......

Give it a break they are all the same.

Like I said.
With that kind of mind set then what your really trying to say is we should all move into the woods and TRY to live off the land.

Dont point at one unlesss your ready to point at it all.
Cause they are all the same.

So is this thread really about WalMart, or is it really about the state of individuals that are just so frustrated with there own existance that they feel the need to place blame towards what they cannot control themselves.

Instead of reflecting upon what there real problem is and making an attempt to change what they can. To do something for themselves for a change.
Stop placing blame on others for there own problems.

Maybe the problems in your world are not because of WalMart.
Is the way it is and has always been.
You cannot help those that are not willing to help themselves.

And guess what. All the so called walmarts of the world are doing what they can to help themselves.
And all the power to them.
Thats the society that we live in. The opportunity is there for all. There are no excuses.

Would it be my fault....or would I be a bad person.................If I was to open up a detailing shop down the road from Gary,(Turbomangt), and offered the same service for a better price ?????

If you dont want to play with the big dogs then dont get off the porch.

exactly, and i dont know whether youre skilled or not, but turbo is a detailing-ass man. i think his quality is hard to match, especially at a lower price, so you'd offer lower prices but probably lower quality. so why is walmart vs target or other retailers any different? everyone is claiming wal mart products are crap, so make the choice, dont pay for crap
