Ok so here's an interesting tale of woe and misfortune for you all to take a gander at.
To preface this whole thing, i was unfortunate enough to drive a 2003 VW Gti 1.8T for the past 2.5 years. It was a decent go-between while i was waiting to be able to afford my CTS-V.
ok so here's the meat of the story...
on 12/29/06 i stopped by my local cadillac dealership to kill some time time and take a CTS-V for a quick spin. I've been addicted to the V since they came out, so it was a no brainer when i was able to get the payment into a range that i could afford. Well traded in the kraut-mobile on the V and thought it was a done deal ... gave the dealer the info to make the payoff etc. about 1/10/07 I get in the mail an envelope from VW Credit (the leinholder on the red turd of a VW i traded in) saying my remaining balance is 3xxx.xx dollars and i have been assessed a late fee because i never made my december payment and i've been pinged on my credit. Payment must be remitted within 7 days or i will be reported for a delinquent account.
So after about 4 days of bugging the hell out of my salesman, salesmanager, and the poor girl at the accounting dept at the cadillac dealership, i come to find out that a check WAS issued on 1/02 and cashed on 1/08 by a bank that VW credit swears that they don't use. So here it is 1/31/07 and no one knows where the freakin money is STILL. I am about to make my SECOND payment (yeah wierd scheduling) on a car that I DO NOT HAVE IN MY POSSESSION ANYMORE...i refuse to let this ding me on my credit, absolutely refuse. I've worked too hard to have something ding me now cause VW is too stupid to track their own funds.
I'm not getting any help from VW at all, even though they know they have a check, but they're sitting on their butts relying on my dealer and myself to find where the money THEY cashed went to.
Absolutely the worst customer experience ever!!!
I really am trying to not get upset with the cadillac dealership as this poor girl has had her phone ringing off the hook since i've been calling her twice a day for the last 3 weeks. She must have me on speed dial by now.
The reason i'm starting to get irked with the dealership is the sales manager talked to me and stated in very clear language "WE HAVE FULFILLED OUT COMMITMENT TO YOU SIR! WE ISSUED A CHECK WE HAVE NO FURTHER RESPONSIBLITY!" i'm tempted to call the GM of the dealership and have words with him, and basically demand compensation for having to deal with this prick and all this effort on my part when its their money at stake basically. The only thing thats stopping me is the accounting girl has been SO helpful. I don't want her to catch flak for it.
So the long and short of it from VW's side is that i have now been assessed a total of 64$ in late fees for two monthly payments that will not count towards my loan balance and will not be included in any overage check i receive when/if they find the original check.
Who should i take this issue up with...
well have fun with this one guys, has this ever happened to anyone else jere?
