I tried Opera some time ago - and wasn't very impressed. I deleted it and never thoght about it again. Since Firefox has been around, I've been liking that quite a bit - but when 2.0 came out and at nearly the same time, Internet Explorer 7 came out - I switched back to IE.. Firefox started giving me strange problems. And, being that it's becoming very popular, there are security with it as well..
So, just a moment ago, I decided to go and give Opera a second chance.. At this point in time, it's FLYING. I'm flying around CadillacOwners.com like I've never seen it before. Like before there were any members but myself and my younger Brother.. Maybe it's just because there's no cache or cookies stored yet. I don't know. But, this is going to be my new browser until (and IF) it slows down for me...
I really suggest you give it a try... http://www.opera.com/

I have been using Opera for quite a few years and it seems more reliable to IE .However there is something quirk when using Opera when posting in this forum.Let's say I post a message on Techical Disscussions Forum and the last message is mine but my message doesn't appear on the main page to the forums .It takes a few minutes to get it loaded .
With using IE7 no problem at all like that but I am getting tired of error reports which is nasty .
Overall, I dare say, still opera takes the win |

I'll have to give it a spin sometime. I've been using the latest Mozilla pretty much religiously for the past couple years, and IE only when I have to download something. That said, I really dislike the latest IE 7, as the setup is just poorly done and things don't work nearly as well as I'm used to with Mozilla.
But never tried Opera either, so we shall see. |

Most of my "stuff" is still with Firefox, but I like this so far, and we'll see how it works out. Speed seems about the same as the others.
EDIT: Take that back. It definately seems faster than the other two now...

I've used Opera for several years, and love it. Once you get it 'tweaked' to your satisfaction, it's absolutely unbeatable. The only thing that's unfortunate about it is that it (at least on my PC) tends to be rather unforgiving of bad javascript coding - videos on break.com, for example, tend to blow it up with a C++ library error. Other video pages don't seem to have any problem - google, youtube, streetfire, etc all run just fine.
Having used nearly every browser around since about 1993, I've seen 'em all - AOL, the IBM early "WebExplorer", Netscape, FF, IE since Ver 1, various other IE sub-browsers like NeoPlanet and the rest. Opera beats them all.

The Opera has a weird layout for some things (like the Bookmark list), and seems to load pages where I do a search incorrectly (i.e., I search for one thing, go back and search for another, and then it only shows me the list from the last time unless I try and clear all out and refresh--that's annoying, and never had the issue before).
But, I'll keep it, and maybe play around with it a little more. Firefox is still perfect for me, layout wise, and the constant spell checker. Just too bad I can't properly download stuff with it--i.e., no "Run" option and direct download to the computer, only a Save--then it would be perfect. |

I stopped using Opera after it crashed and erased ALL of my bookmarks. Granted Firefox 2.0 which I've using since it came out (and the various versions before it) crashes on me too sometimes, but it still manages to retain all of my bookmarks, so I deal with it. I don't like Microsoft, and I don't use IE. Never have as long as there have been other browsers out there. Just seemed kinda lame, and always seemed to have less features than all the other browsers out there. |

Another day, and I haven't even clicked on Opera anymore, so away it will go. It did seem to do some things quicker, but also had errors IE and Mozilla don't, and the interface wasn't my favorite. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
