Why? Because I have a buyer hounding me for it at a very decent price to me. I've been looking at the Lucernce cs-X and what began as mildly impressed, has turn to very impressed. V8-Northstar and elegantly finished interior. All in all a very nice 4-Door~ but then I go back to a 2007 Town Car, now with $10,000 off (discount plus rebate plus free 6-disc CD) and the Town Car costs $400 LESS than the Buick Lucerne top of the line, with every option. I have to go drive the Buick & then decide. I like the paint colors on the Buick better, especially the bright Gold Firemist with black leather and the chrome double pane wheels, but I think in 4 yearsthe Lincoln will be worth more. Ummmmm |

The Lucerne is an elegant looking car with a very formidable powertrain. I've never driven one but I'll bet that it handles much nicer than the Town Car and rides almost as smooth. |

It has great room, looks elegant inside and out, has build quality and materials that are among the best ever to come from GM--that impressed me the most--and is just a killer car in top CXS guise with the Northstar V8 and Magneride.
We were looking at V6 ones for gas mileage concerns, and the 3.8L certainly does sip lightly compared to the Northstar, but I'd love to try out a V8 model.
It'd be hard to give up such a nice Town Car, but you'll "know" if you give the Buick a thorough drive and get the feeling. Very nice luxury car, and most impressive, is better than the DTS in a lot of ways but for thousands less. |

The other consideration is that the Lincoln dealer I buy from is just 5 miles away. The nearst Buick dealer is way far away, actually 18 miles out & 18 back. Not even in the same county! They are a big dealer (Pontiac; GMC and Buick) ~ ~ Yes, I also looked at the Grand Prix GTP - but I want a V-8 and it is mot, well being so big I wonder how the service is....My Lincoln-Merc dealer is small and has fantastic service! Has won Ford's President's Award 7 hears in a row for 99.4 CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index), and I like that. |

TC has more style than Lucerne, but Lucerne has all the modern goodness of a turn-of-century Cadillac. |

Sandy, do you mean the GTP or GXP? The GTP ended production in '05 and that one was the Supercharged 3800, The '06 and '07 Grand Prix GT is the same thing as the old GTP. The GXP is the replacement for the GTP as the flagship GP..that one has the new 5.3L OHV V8 with the displacement on demand...303hp and 323 lb/ft...low 14 second 1/4 mile, much faster than the Lucerne CXS. I'm not sure how you'd like the GXP's ride though, I thought you liked the smooth luxury car ride. |

A Grand Prix GTP, with 3.4L DOHC V6 with Louvered hood, plus optional GTP Performance Package, Custom Leather Package, MoonRoof, ABS Braking, Power Seat, Heads-Up Display, Cassette & 7-Band Eq. & 8-Speaker Performance Audio Pkg, Trip Computer, Rear Spoiler, Keyless Entry, Power Antenna, and more, for $22,336 in 1994 money.
Had constant, never ending problems with the car. Over 55 service visits to correct problems, went lemon law, went everywhere. Trunk leaked badly, GM/Pontiac sent Reps to fix. New Taillamps, didn't work, new weatherstripping didn't work. Finally a crack in the body weld joints was found to be the answer. While awaiting word on what was going to be done on a fix, I was driving the car at 25 MPH on a side street, when the entire front fascia & air dam fell OFF the car, and naturally I drove over it. Car needed to be towed.
In the end, Pontiac bought it back, and I switched to Lincoln with a Mark 7.
I hope I answered your question. I would not buy a Pontiac.
Sexy, fast, good looking, zero quality. Good car to lease for 1 year.
This is why I am a little bit timid about the Buick. Bedfellows ? |

That said, current Pontiacs are no different in quality of build or overall finish from other GM's, but it all comes down to styling and trim--two things a lot of people still don't like, though.
Back to Lucerne vs. Town Car, that is still a bit of a dilemma. The Buick is a bit trimmer, higher performance, and sportier (strange, but true), but the Lincoln is purely a classic and still impressive in a lot of ways--which you very well know. All comes down to, still, whether you get that "feeling" on a thorough test of the Buick or whether you really would want to buy a TC that is another of the same, just model years newer. OR, just keep the one you already have. |

One of my clients bought a V6 unit for his wife and they both love it. Over time, though, I'm not crazy about the exterior styling. I like the looks of the LaCrosse better. |
