Happy belated Thanksgiving guys. Why so late? I just got back on line today, been disconnected for a few weeks.
It's been a crazy year for me;
1. Closed my business in March
2. Went to work for a small contractor (cheap and over his head), helped him get a problem job straightened out, organized and ahead of the general contractor for the first time on that project, got laid off for my troubles (end of May).
3. Went to work first week of June for the company that I first started with back in 1978, they hired me as a project foreman/detailer, good pay, truck & gas card included (yeah) interesting project.
4. Found another house, put an offer on it, haggled a bit and bought it.
5. Got laid off again the week we were to close (Mike?! You rubbin off on me here buddy?!! jes kiddin!) didn't affect the sale, the next week we celebrated a quiet Thanksgiving at the new house with 16 family members.
6. Spent every day since fixing up the old house to rent out.
Man! I am beat! I've been remodeling the bath rooms, cleaning, fixing and painting like a mad man! Thank God I've had some help. It's a good thing I've been off work because this has turned into a full time job with overtime!
The new house is nice. It's older, built in '67, one owner who passed away back in March. The house has not been updated, the common bath room is pink .... all pink.... pink tub, toilet, sink, walls, even the toilet paper was pink! The house is twice the floor space of the one we moved from. It sits on .81 acres. Amazingly, we haven't bought any more furniture and the house is not bare. I don't know how the 5 of us fit in the old one!
It's a gift from the Lord, we have been blessed.

JRau in central Iowa | Being mechanically inclined has been second nature for me all of my life but it has its pros and cons, for instance, my wife thinks I can do anything and expects it!  |
