I just woke up from a one hour nap at this rest area here in Iowa -- hopped into the passenger seat and dozed off. Put the key in, turned it, and heard slow cranking. I thought the battery died until I realized I LEFT THE F!ING HEADLIGHTS ON. Its bright out but a bit rainy so I had them on, but didnt notice.

Just called the Iowa Highway Patrol, who referred me to a tow truck to come out and give me a jump. $35 was what I was quoted, and so I here I am on the rest area's wifi waiting around, IMing my friends and telling them how incredibly stupid I am.

Oh yeah, a drained battery is a -great- way to stress a dying alternator! [It started acting up in Wyoming.]

Road trips are an adventure, arent they? At least I got to see Mount Rushmore.

Oregon has it too, but I haven't tried it yet.

In my experience, Iowa has some of the nicest rest areas. So does Nebraska. Very clean and well maintained. California has some pretty scary ones.

Re: LOL, I'm at a rest area right now, stranded.

California sure as hell does have some scary ones. Oregon's are nice on the outside, but I was unimpressed with the actual "facilities" if ya know what I mean. Nebraska, yes, nice. Wyoming, not so much at all. Nevada has a good mix of both of them.

Oh, crap! I didn't notice the shirt!!! Hahaha, road trips are ALWAYS fun...even if you have to look back on it twenty years later to realize how great it was.

Re: LOL, I'm at a rest area right now, stranded.

When I was a kid, for Christmas I asked for something to wear, and something to play with.

Dad gave me a pair of overalls like that with the pocket cut out.

Which rest area was it? I think I've been to every one on I-80 from end to end. Glad you're up and running again!
