A good afternoon everyone:

I have made a few posts before I realized the new member portal was available, apologies!

I am a girl!, 46, live in Toronto, Canada, I adore vehicles. Grew up on a farm, so 5 speeds and pick ups are great. My father is a mechanic of 57 years (he is 78 and STILL fixes cars 6 days a week). I have been around vehicles all my life and pumped many a set of brakes in my time! I have no kids, just 3 pampered indoor cats. My husband and I work in offices; he is a geologist and I am a Corporate Real Estate Manager. No kids, but 3 pampered cats.

We are Nascar fans and cheer for Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin and Michael Waltrip. We drive extensively in the USA (God Bless America Always) for golf vacations and Nascar. Drive alot in Canada for golf and it is where we live, for the moment.

We own the best car ever made, a 1988 Mazda MX6 2 door, 5 speed, 300,000 miles with original clutch and only 3 sets of brakes (can tell I am a mechanics daughter). She is called "Girlie Girl". I also own a Pontiac Montana extended wheelbase miniwagon, which I love because of its height and practicality, but not too impressed with quality - she is known as "Girlie Girl 2". My Mazda is outstanding, I adore her, I talk to her and pat her each day. When she dies, the engine comes out, she will be squished and shrink wrapped - So I can keep her always.

My husband and I are now on track for a "mid life" crisis vehicle - with blended elements of the above vehicles - hence a cross over category and the SRX. I want height, carriage for 5 persons&golf clubs, and must have above average reliability and safety features (I live on freeways).

I love the look of the SRX, find the domestic repair costs more reasonable than the foreign (my dad confirms this), and I have $3,500 GM points on my VISA card.

However, hate the SRX interior and I just can't bring myself to purchase it - also the rattling Ultraview roof would do me in.

So, I will be watching, learning and posting on this board.

Thanks to all who have helped me thus far

Regards

NascarQueen24

Welcome NascarQueen24!

That was quite an introduction. Your dilemma is not uncommon. Choosing the correct vehicle is always a tough one, but doing your homework and taking testdrives will get you where you need to go. I have not looked at the SRX very closely. I have always said that the american station wagon would return, and it has. Although it is called something different this crossover segment is very popular. The station wagon was the first real 'utility vehicle' with its ability to carry a 4x8 sheet of plywood on saturday and then all 9 kids to church on sunday! Good luck with your search, you sound determined to make the correct choice! Thanks for joining the forum.

Paul
