Cool $3000 for a cadillac

Remove this ad
i'm in the market for a cadillac. i have three grand and i know i can get a seriously decent cadillac for that.

can anyone give some suggestions on a good year and model?

i'm a big guy so i need plenty of room and i only want to spend three grand or less.

i know i probably can't get into a model with the northstar engine but i hear that the 91 engines are great.

here's a couple links to cars i might be interested in...

'91 seville
looks real nice but sould i be concerned about the mileage

'85 sedan deville
which i think is overpriced

anyways, any suggestions would be great.

Hell I bought a '84 Fleetwood Brougham Coupe for $200 running. Of course it looks all ghetto . but slowly I'm cleaning her up.

I've got a '91 4.9 Seville with 155,000 miles on it and it runs great! and is very comfortable. I'm a big guy too! for the money I would not be afraid to buy that Seville. The 4.5/4.9 Caddy engines are VERY dependable as well.

The engines in those cars (4.9l) is a great engine. They are as reliable, if not more reliable than the northstar. When it comes to cars of that age, they are going to need some work, no matter what. I think that finding an 92 eldo for 2500-3000 would be pushing it.

That seville looks nice, but miles i would be concerned about. I would get anything else of that era without the 4.9. The 85 has the 4.5, which is good, but i like the bigger one.

I would try these sites, which were responsible for finding my Q.

www.autotrader.com
www.cars.com
www.us.trader.com

That covers about all your ground. Obviously, keep your eyes peeled on the classifieds. Let dealers know that you are looking, and they will keep their eyes out for you.

Wes, The '85 Seville had the 4.1 easily the worst engine other than the 8-6-4 that Cadillac ever made! 133,000 on a 4.9 is not a problem unless it's been beat to death or not maintained. I would buy that car at that price in a heartbeat!......The B.F. count rises!

thanks for the replies guys...

my cousin is a dealer and i've been waiting and waiting for a decent trade-in to come along but i am sick of waiting. i might make an offer on that seville for 3000. what do you think? i could probably at least get him down a few hundred. he's a dealer so he probably got it in at below kelly blue book.

we'll see.

add that to the brain fart list

Did you try looking at some of those websites I mentioned... While I was looking for my Q (at the time i was searching for a cadillac) I saw some really nice low mileage devilles (around 91-93) for under 3000. Be sure to check those websites. You may have to drive a long way, but it is worth it. Which do you prefer- Convienent Crap or Distant Tresure???

I recommend a '88-'91 brougham. Get the RWD classic body style. You can't go wrong.

I second that, although there were wuite a few changes from '89 to '90. I persoanlly like the '86-'89 style alot better.

read my post a few messages down where I introduce myself, and you can see pictures of our '89 Brougham custom gold edition
