I'm here - just getting up! It's # 62 today. It's been a really sad year as I have spent endless countless days in the hospital fighting cancer. However, I am winning !! Feeling terrific, allthough sad as my son left at 6AM today with his girlfriend to vacation in Montego Bay. I miss his @$$ already! Thanks for the well wishes. This year I really need them. My 1993 Cadillac Sixty Special is spending the winter in a heated & dehumidified secure 14 car garage in which I rented a space. She wears a car cover and is flawless and as new, with 9,980 miles on her. I am allready looking forward to Spring, 2009. I am having my 3rd surgery on January 7th. I pray all well go well. I think it will. So far...So Good Thanks to all who maintain this site and to all contributors - In my past darkest hours, it has entertained me and kept my mind off the chemo infusions and related discomfort. ~ ~ Sandy |

Your guys are young at 32 & 23. LISTEN TO ME....
I had severe "White Coat Fear' ~ of Doctors, Hospitals & especially invasive surgery. I almost died at age 61 simply because of THAT fear.
Remember this, even though it's far away for you both...
at age 48 to 50 get the to a hospital and have a colonoscopy ! I was fearful,
and did NOT do it, even though my regular doctor told me to.
Little did I know, that I had a tiny little polyp in my colon. One does not feel these things. Finally I began bleeding from my rear. The tiny little polyp had grown to the size of cashew nut and had then become cancerous. Then spread to my Liver.
I never felt a thing !!!!!!!! IF IF IF I had that colonoscopy, when it was the size of the eraser on top of a normal pencil, they coulda woulda snipped it off WHILE doing the colonoscopy and I would had none of this misery......
I am now at 1,000 hours of Chemo & holding.
I have made fantastic improvement, from a month away from death, to washing & waxing my car, and living a normal life, again, but I need to be checked once a month for a year & 6 times a year..... thereafter
Never ever forget to have the Colo done ! The following day you will feel perfect, again. One day of misery -VS- sure death if it's cancerous ! DUH |

Everybody I work with has them done. Supposedly they're the most cost effective diagnostic screening tool around, when weighed against the cost of surgery, chemo, etc for undiagnosed colon CA. No fear of the butt scope for me. Every now and then I have to do the sedation for our GI clinic so I've seen hundreds of them.
I've added 1000 IU of Vit D to my multivitamin regimen because of the recent literature that suggests larger Vit D doses significantly lower the incidence of colon cancer. They may eventually change their minds about that, but for the time being this sub-toxic dose can't hurt anything. |

Glad to hear you are fighting the cancer and winning. I know I'm approaching the age where I'll need to do the colonoscopy, and while it sounds about as much fun as the MRI I had years ago, I'll do it. It beats chemo.
Hoover sends a big, wet, sloppy kiss your way, too.

I celebrated it in the hospital, as an out patient, recieving my 21st infusion of Chemo. Not fun, not fun at all. But when I got home (4PM) there was awaiting B' Day cake and some $$$ for me. The REAL celebration came 2 days later when my Cancer Dr. brought forth the latest results of my Cat-Scan, showing that I had a mere 2 centimeters of Cancer left in my Liver. This is a 98% total remission level, and with further treatments thru this coming early Summer, I should be 100%. It's been one hell of a loooong haul. I was also in the hospital on Thanksgiving AND Christmas ! I seem to hit all the holidays. So far, I am one of the very very lucky ones! It's a battle royal, and it puts your normal life on a 18-month "hold" ! Now, my lifelong best friend's wife, was just diagnosed with Liver Cancer, yesterday! I will not tell her the hell she faces.
How did I do so well? Outlook & food. You MUST keep a happy mind, and a good outlook and be confident that you will make it, and suppliment that with high quality food. Super high quality. I went Kosher, because there are NO chemicals in it, and nothing artificial and I ate alot of vegis (fresh) and the basic food groups and easy does it on the DAIRY stuff.
Lots of fish, flounder, Sole, that kinda food. Sweets are okay, but your body needs ammo to fight, and that comes from the food groups we all learned about in elementary school and super high quality food, with as few as possible non food ingredients. I lost 66 pounds going from 263 to 197. I am now 217 where I want to remain.
A week from today - next Tuesday, the 7th, I wil have my last operation, as an out patient, it's a 1 hour deal. Ya Hoo !
Anyhow, I am sorry that I forgot to reply to all these well wishes - but, my plate has been very full.
Have A HAPPY & A HEALTHY NEW YEAR !!!! | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
