My parents, being the paranoid F!s that they are, insisted that they go with me (about 5 blocks away to the gas station, at like 7:00 pm... ooh... beware of the psycho killers).
Long story short, my mom ends up driving, and i will be sure to raise the insurance policy the next time she decides to drive it again. She will *NEVER* drive that car again, and she will be lucky to ride in it.
During that what was supposed to be a 2 minute car ride, she decides to check out the hurricane damages, and for some odd reason, roll down all of the windows. Not only does she feel the need to floor the crap out of the car after each stop sign, she also has to slam on the brakes at every stop sign. This of course, pisses me the **** off, the car should not be treated like this. To top it off, at the stop light, she pulls up next to some idiot who is smoking, has the window down, and then positions herself convineintly so that the smoke comes in. I HATE SMOKING AND ANYTHING RELATED TO IT. Of course, I fight with her to put up the window 20 seconds ago, but she can't figure out how to bring up the window (yet had no problem bringing down the windows when she got in the car) after finally getting the window up, she proceeds to messing with the headlights and almost breaking the lever. THEY ARE ****ING AUTOMATIC! WHY DO YOU NEED TO EVEN TOUCH IT?
To top it off, we didn't even end up putting gas.
so cliffnotes: mother decides to go with me to gas station 4 blocks away, decides to take a more scenic route driving the car like a formula 1 car, lets some cigarette smoke in the car, almost breaks the light control lever, turns 2 minute ride into 20 minute journey, wastes 1/2 tank of gas, and in the end, doesn't even take me to go put gas.
oddly enough, i have been home at just about any imagineable time of the day, coming sometimes from places alot farther and alot more dangerous than the gas station 4 blocks away, and she doesn't care.
i know with my old car, i wouldnt have cared, but i lvoe my new car.
does anyone else feel this strongly about their car? banning their own family member from ever using it? and screaming at the top of your lungs at them and staying up at 5:10 in the morning writing a post to an internet forum.
i needed to vent. i just find it sad that i treat my car with the utmost care and some idiot comes and ruins it |

Your mom bought you the car. She can have a threesome with 2 Mexicans midgets in the back seat if she wants. |

For the last time, she didn't buy the car. No money came out of her pocket, no money will come out of her pocket, and the only time her name appears anywhere in the car is on the insurance policy because its a family plan and her car is in it. The only two people related to that car are my father and I, and we are splitting the costs. |

Anyway, I'm the same way. My brother drove my car for a month while he and I were out of town and nearly ruined the power steering. I told him it needs to be topped off; the car has 206k. He almost ran it dry and somehow missed the obvious grinding noise and rough steering feel.
The leather seats are trashed now.
There's tree sap all over.
There's garbage all over the front and back floors.
Then there was the time I took my mom somewhere. The Q45 has release buttons to drop the sun visors down, because theyre quite thick and heavy and flushly embedded into the roof. My mom, instead of hitting the elegant, large, and obvious button, dug her fingers around the edge and decided to rip the freaking visor out! There it was, dangling on a wire, my big luxurious visor.
Never trust family with your car, even if its only worth $2000 like mine. |

In fact I hate anybody wanting to touch my ride especially those people that leave leaflets on your ride. I tell them off all the time. |

Other than her, have only let 1 friend drive it because I was too intoxicated to drive..
If they want to drive it I just borrow one from my dealer. That way they can get the true driving experience without damaging my car. I do a good enough job of that on my own.
Right hand turns at 55 mph. Slide just a little bit. I love to hate my STS. I could careless if I tore it up. Yes I am paying for my own, plus my own insurance, and my house payment. No free rides or splitting the car with anyone. Unless someone on the site is offering?? |

People always ask me if I ever get worried about someone stealing it. I tell them no, its insured with replacement insurance, ill probably get the v8 this time around.
Just hopefully they wont return it. |

i needed to vent. i just find it sad that i treat my car with the utmost care and some idiot comes and ruins it | Last time I let my mom drive my car (93 Deville / a real beauty) it came back with the rear end smashed and the car totalled. So I understand you being upset. So needless to say no one drives my cars except me or my wife. |

I almost beat them all. Haha but it was no big deal. I know my parents sometimes drive my Fleetwood because I've either parked infront of the garage door or I'm not around and I ask them to drive it so it doesn't sit. I never see them do it but I hope that they're treating it as well as I do. The only thing they'll do is my dad will move my seat up and not put it back and a country music station will be on the radio. My mom will do the same thing but my leopard print pillow will be on the back of the driver's seat. No biggie really.

And yes, I think that the lounge would be a better idea for this thread. I wasn't exactly sure where to put it.
According to here, we are #3 in crime rates.
I didn't think this many people were as caring about their car as I am. Since my work requires me to travel just about anywhere in the south florida area (self employed, thankfully, for now ) i sometimes find myself in not the best areas. |

Otherwise my wife can be trusted with all my cars, my mther and father can drive them if they like, and also my older son, i really dont care. I know my family can be trusted....
Plus i hammered my mothers BMW 330cd when she first got it, and she hammered my STS. We have an agreement
Also would youre insurance cover you for leaving the car unsecure? By unsecure i mean running with nobody in it and the doors open. It wouldnt be insured here if you did it. If you are not in the car, effectively it needs to be turned off and locked up..... If you leave the keys in you are asking for it to be stolen, im sure if you check on the insurance it will probably not be covered | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
