The glass is sitting on a piece of clear plastic and lit from below by a remotely fired flash.

Thanks for the encouragement! |

Very much my weak point which makes me nervous as I've agreed to take some at a friends mothers wedding. Only a registry office, not a full fancy church wedding, but still... |

The last wedding/reception I was at, the photog was shooting the reception with the pop up flash...
I also did some talking and she felt that the 50mm 1.8 was too constraining...
Yeah, the photos were horrible by the way. |

I've taken shots at weddings before and it's not easy.
I wouldn't dare try at the moment.
but a few portraits in the garden should be do-able.
Basically if I refused to do it (not easy politically) they would have no photos at all except from camera phones which seems a shame. I know I can do better than that for them. |

Notice the extra red lights nearest the camera as the cars brake (adding brake lights to the normal red rear lights) for the speed camera (the yellow box on the pole). Do they have those fixed type cameras in the USA? They use radar and take 2 photos of the car a second(?) apart as it drives over painted white lines to show the speed? Then you get a fine in the mail?
(if you're paying attention you'll notice we're driving on the wrong side of the road of course... ) |

What we do have are vans that they park in construction zones that use radar to capture your speed. However, there are some areas around here where they will use airplanes to see if you are speeding or not and then call a ground unit to intercept you and write the ticket. The airplane pilots time the distance it takes for you to go over some white lines on the road that are about 100 yards apart.
