Now I need to stop buying software/lenses and save up for a new body already. XTi isn't cutting it in certain situations. |

What situations isn't it cutting it in?
By the way, the lady on the left is Susette Kelo. |

I've wondered this for awhile and haven't come across a good explanation or comparison anywhere, but what exactly does Lightroom do? (most of what I've read makes it sound like a more photography specific version of Elements)
*EDIT* ...just noticed that Adobe sells it in a package with Ps CS4, so evidently it does something that Ps doesn't...
Which also makes me wonder why it isn't included in my frelling Master Collection.

I'm considering buying a 5D (which is surprisingly good in AI Servo) or just make a slight compromise in IQ and pick up a 40D/50D. Quote:

It has five main functions: archiving, editing, slide shows, printing, and exporting to the web. The layout is so functional and easy to use, making importing/converting from RAW/posting to web/printing much easier than using Bridge/Photoshop.
In Bridge I would have to import, convert from RAW in CS3, save as a TIFF, open the image back up in CS3 to resize and sharpen, then post to the web. In Lightroom I can import, convert from RAW, then export a resized/sharpened/watermarked JPEG for the web all within the same window.
For major pixel-level adjustments though, you're still going to want to use Photoshop. It's the clear winner for serious cloning/spot healing, and correcting distortion/perspectives.
You can download a 30 day trial from Adobe's website, and the current issue of Shutterbug has a real nice article on all of LRs features. It took me about two days to really get used to, now I can't live without it. |

The best way to do this with a DSLR is through exposure bracketing, but you can also create HDR using a single shot taken in RAW and making three copies with different exposure levels (the results aren't quite as good in my experience, but it can be done).
If you can send me that file in RAW, I can show you what a basic HDR can do for it.

One of my great uncles has a POW/MIA flag with the names of two of his friends who were POWs in Vietnam written on it.
