This thread should be re-titled. When I think of Detroit "legends" I think of Al Kaline or Joe Louis.

Re: Detroit Legend Iacocca Returns as the Voice of Chrysler

Wait a minute, her Cordoba had round headlights! So what year would have that been???? 1978??

It definately looked better with large round headlights.

Those things rode SMOOTH Ian.

Re: Detroit Legend Iacocca Returns as the Voice of Chrysler

Is Chrysler really American anymore? I mean they were bought out by Mercedes right? Or am I confused and it was the other way around...

When I was 5ish my mothers friend had one of those talking New Yorkers. It was pretty cool how it said good morning _____ or good evening________.

It's about 30% American, from what I've run across.

I'm thinking a talking car might FREAK ME OUT!!!

Yea, Talking Cars were popular for about as long as the New Coke.

Re: Detroit Legend Iacocca Returns as the Voice of Chrysler

Well the truth is Navigation systems are really about as much of a gimmick as the Talking Cars were, people just havent realized it yet because when it comes down to it, the Nav screen does look much prettier in the dash than plain old buttons and dials even if they are confoundingly difficult to operate, never work right (voice commands) and just generally get more complicated every year (I-Drive).

Somehow I think history will repeat itself with better technology to execute such things. We are using voice recog in Nav systems.

Crap the new new coke may come back

It also controls the radio, climate, etc....I guess the idea is that you can learn all the movements and not take your eyes off the road or something. I heard they simplified the I-drive for the 3 and the 5 but maybe Ian knows if that's true or not...
