Boggles the mind.
If you ask me they have only made about 6 years worth that were any good, at least in the looks department.
The '69 and '10 models are the hottest by far, closely followed by the '67-'68 and trailing on we have the early '70s split bumper which degraded later on into a pretty weak sportscar. I think we can just go into the record books and completely erase the 80's altogether. What a load of crap rolled out of every car plant in the world during that decade. Phenomenal.
The LS engine era brought the powertrain aspect back to life but the looks just weren't there, at least not for me.
I miss my '69 most of all even though it was pretty beat up I think it was one of the most beautiful cars I ever owned.
I want a '10 so bad I can taste it but I haven't got the cash right now
I asked for one for my birthday but with the adoption and the renovations in the house I am betting.... not.

It's gorgeous. I remember seeing it on the auto show circuit in 2007 and thinking "Holy crap, imagine the looks that thing would get."
It's weird, down where I live in FL, I never see them. I've seen two of them actually moving on the road. One black one that I occasionally would see going down the road sometimes, and a yellow one I saw in a CVS parking lot -- and I almost ran over some little old lady because I was gawking at it. lol |

I must say that the 4th gen LS1 was the ultimate "caveman's car". Loud, uncomfortable, cave like interior, ridiculuos styling, and faster than anything on the road. You had to be a real man to drive one, cause you'd put it in the ditch if you didn't know what the hell you were doing. |

I hate Concordes (aside from that super cool franco-british Jet). A friend's dad has one similar to that and we always get seasick when we ride in it...it's too floaty and with the way the rear seat is shaped, you feel claustrophobic because you sit low and away from the windows. Quote:

If you didn't like the 4th gen Camaro there was always another choice... | For the LS1 cars, I think that the Firebird was the better looker, but for the LT1 models, I like the Camaros more. I love how they have those set-in headlights...it looks super edgy and aggressive. Kinda like a cheetah running with it's eyes squinted. Quote:

There's the link for the Car and Driver link but the needed info is: "Given the company’s penchant for pumping up horsepower, of course Lingenfelter would rework the engine, too. Under the striped hood—there’s no huge screaming chicken as of now—sits an aluminum 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V-8 block with a lofty 11.5:1 compression ratio, ported-and-polished Lingenfelter heads from the Corvette Z06’s LS7, a forged crankshaft, and high-flow intake. The custom stainless-steel exhaust comes courtesy of Corsa. Power output is quoted at 655 hp and 610 lb-ft of torque, up significantly from the 426 hp of a stock manual Camaro SS. Also present are a new twin-disc clutch and flywheel assembly and tougher rear half-shafts to withstand the extra grunt. Handling alterations are limited to the addition of Nitto tires." | I'm glad they made it 455 CID, as a nod to the old days.

There was a company producing 69 camaros, 66 Mustangs and 70? Chevelle bodies. For around $13,000 you get the complete body from firewall back including doors and trunk.
I would imagine a person could buy all other reproduction parts so someone can now make "new" old cars. |

For me, what I need is something that looks gorgeous but has all the modern conveniences and safety features that most production cars have.
My '69 Camaro was a great car but from a safety and comfort standpoint it was a turd.
My 2-60 air conditioner and make shift interior offered nothing as far as safety, comfort, or convenience.
I like the Retro thing if done right.
Oh don't get me wrong, if I had the scratch I'd drop tons of dough to have a '69 Yenko sitting in my garage for looking at, but I need something that I can drive that is more affordable.
The old ones cost more than the new ones these days anyway. |

A few years ago I visited a friend that had an original 68 Z28 and we went for a ride. I'd forgotten how loud and rough they were. Impressive for a ride around the block but I can't imagine driving 1000 miles in a day in one. Re doing one of these reproduction cars would be just a hobby and a challenge to do. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
