Re: Question for the paint people

Just out of curiosity, if you just spray painted it anyway, why bother with clear coat?

Re: Question for the paint people

I have never heard of it wrinkling. Try it on a non-exposed area (bottom of the trunk lid or hood maybe) and see what happens. I spray painted my old Isuzu (the rusty parts at least) with Rustoleum when I had it and it held up very well.

my neighbor told me it would wrinkle, so it just freaked me out. lol. It took me so long to get it perfect and would hate to make it go to waste. It is a 5 tone paint job and found it cheaper than buying 5 pints of different paint, reducer and thinner.

If i do clear coat it i will use a spray gun not a rattle can, just want to make sure nothing bad will happen to the enamel paint.

here is my WRC wanna be focus

Re: Question for the paint people

I think if when you buy the clear, you tell the guys at the paint store what you used, they will be sure to give you something that will not react and wrinkle. Then just to be safe, test it on a piece of scrap metal.

Re: Question for the paint people

Why not call the company that made the paint in the spray can and ask for their advice. The number is usually on the can or try Google if that fails.

The actual painting does, but I'm not sure where you're going with that design....
