Last night it really stormed and absolutely poured. There are problems with flooding all over this area. Last night after I got off work I went to get something to eat and when I came home there was water across my street and there are ruts at the end of my driveway from the water flowing over it. According to The Weather Channel there is a 30-50% chance of rain the rest of the week. Maybe I should find an Amphacar to trade the Eldroado for... |

This is a picture I took earlier at Prater's Mill just a couple of minutes up the road from my house. It was a grain mill in the late 1800's. It sits on the bank of Coahulla Creek. Where you can see the dip in the water there is supposed to be a 5 foot waterfall. |

Lake Lanier was something like 10' lower than it normally is. It was scary. The past year we have caught up on a lot of rain though. Things are much better than they were, but all the rain we have gotten this past week is too much all at once. The water tables could still use some replenishing, but all of this is just running off. |

It rained all last week when I was on vacation, and it looks like it may do the same this week. I managed to get my lawn cut just before the present thunderstorm set in.

We've had some pretty crazy floods here in Winnipeg too. Who's genius idea was it to build a city right in the middle of a flood plain? |

Amazingly my basement found a new, very creative way to flood, besides the normal seepage through the back wall and garage doors where the yard slopes towards the house. Now water is leaking through a piece of flashing around drain vent on the roof. Water follows the pipe all the way down into the basement and has left a two foot square puddle on the floor. It also makes an unscheduled stop in the kitchen and seeps down the wall onto the counter.
The basement is an unmitigated shit hole from hell, with black mold and spiders that will eat you alive. I've complained about it to my landlord, and its really too bad because the rest of the house is really nice. I feel bad about parking my car down there its so damp, and the spiders will build a nest in the car if you leave the windows down. |

They were talking about areas flooding that aren't even in a floodplain, and how all these people didn't have flood insurance because they figured it would never flood because they didn't live in the floodplain.
This is starting to look like the Mississippi/Missouri River flood of 1993 type of epic IMO. |
