Cadillac Forums: I celebrated the 4th of July by buying American.
You would beat me Chad, but from a rolling start at 20 to about 70 it would be close. That, of course, would be if the trans hadn't taken a dump on me last night.
Oh crap....

These damn Ford products !!! One of the airbags in the rear suspension of the Marauder is blown.... I ordered the parts to convert it to the P71 rear shocks/springs.
Chad, how about Northstar vs. 3800 S/C vs. Marauder (4.6 DOHC 32 valve) ?? !!!

It was built on 12/3/99.
Negatory... Not all 4T65Es are created equal. While all were an all-around improvement over the 4T60, there were different versions. Two of which used a larger torque converter... While the HD also benefited from a beefed-up gearbox, namely - a stronger differential and half-shafts.
It was by far the best of the 4T65Es as well as being the least trouble-prone... So much, that it's still being used with the LS4-equipped front-drivers.
So, as I've said before... Stop worrying and give her the beans - she was built for it!

Yeah, it pisses me off. The trans is actually fine but one of the vacuum lines has a really bad leak so the trans shifts waaaay to early in all gears and slips horribly in overdrive. It tries to shift into overdrive at 33mph which damn near kills the engine. I have just been driving it in 3rd and will fix it when I have the time.

Have you checked the TV bushings? By check I mean replace because they are cheap and easy.... and if they fail will ruin the trans in a matter of miles.

How hard would it be to put the P71 suspension in a Town Car?
1) Acquire desired P71 parts
2) Bolt in said Town Car
I know someone selling a sweet Town Car that would be a great base to that road rocket canyon carving TC you've always wanted to build :hint: :hint:
Re: I celebrated the 4th of July by buying American.
Chad, yes, four speed auto trans.
Rick, no I have not replaced them. I know my current issue is a vacuum thing because I can hear the leak from within the center console. The preventative stuff will get taken care of later. I still have yet to replace my dying power steering pump.

I know you do, and thanks for the hint. Yours is a nice example. However, if I were to ever go the TC route, I'd want an '01-'02 Touring Sedan w/moonroof and heated seats. Then bolt on the P71 suspension and mod the engine to where it had some extra oomph -- not sure how much more you can tweak them......
